The launch up totally ruins the fear of heights moment -- which is what the theme of the ride is about.

I Agree, when we're taken up like that, it just doesn't make you afraid. As for the 199 ft. thing, I agree, it should be taller and I'm sure it is about paperwork.

Dr. Doom is on my top 5 favorite rides at Islands of Adventure. It's awesome!

is there a way for them to tweak the ride to where it holds you up in the air an extra couple of seconds before it shoots you down?

There's only one program on the ride. It also only has 1 shot tank per tower, which is filling up with compressed air when you hear the giant WHHOOOSSH that can be heard all over. That shot tank is being pressurized with air, and when the air is released, that's what makes the vehicle launch upwards. Once that shot tank is drained, the "fun" part of the ride ends and it slowly bounces you back down on a "cushion" of air until you're on the ground again. The only way to make the ride last longer is to build another shot tank per tower so that 2 of them fill at the same time. One releases and it shoots the vehicle up, then when the vehicle comes back down, the 2nd one releases and does the same thing. That would require a long line of engineering and Creative and manufacturer design, which I'm sure Universal does not want to spend money on that.

I really like Dr Doom, I just wish it had more effects pre launch like large amounts of fog and a blinding strobe at night just before launch.

I like it more than "drop towers". I guess I just prefer to be lauched upwards. I would also say it comes in as my second favorite non-coaster ride at the park (Spiderman being 1st).

Has anyone ever experienced a true free fall ride...if you have then you know it is far more thrilling to drop with a free fall than to be pulled down. This is where ToT and Dr. D lose the thrill part. Both are fun but Dr.D has 0 things going for it once it starts.

I've been on several and the worst was Drop Zone at PKD. Scared the crap out of me! Still love Doom though.

I rode it Monday for the first time in years. I usually skip it because it honestly scares me. It's not the stomach tickling, the heights or the airtime, it's just sitting on there waiting for it to launch that really freaks me out.

Anyways, it made me realize that I really love it. The queue and facade are amazing, the towers themselves look so cool, the idea behind the attraction is really awesome and the launch feels amazing. I just wish it were longer.

My favorite attraction at the park. It scares me but I love the thrill factor. Went on 14 times in a row before. Was Fun!

I enjoy Doom, Ive been on both the launched and drop version and will say the drop version usually gives me more of that butterfly in my tummy feeling with the being up high longer with the anticipation of it dropping you. If you want a little more thrill try the one on top of the Stratosphere in Vegas at night, really is a surreal moment.

I like Fearfall. The scariest part is the wait before it launches you up. I remember one time before the ride started, a TM was counting down, and it launched before his countdown was over - haha! It's quite a thrill going up and feeling yourself rise off the seat. You get beautiful views of the park.

I voted no because Drop Towers are better. And the towers may be 200 feet tall but you make it no where near the top of them. Our Superman Tower or Power at my local Six Flags is much more exciting and exhilarating than Doom. We pass Doom on every trip unless it happens to have a 10 minute minute wait of less.

Dooms never really been a favorite of mine, prefer TOT, we did the 260' (I beleive) drop at BGW and that was a lot better IMO.

I find freefalls to be MUCH scarier, but I love the airtime at the top of Doom.

The airtime at the top is amazing. I always find it to be a super intense jolt and the most intense ride physical thrill wise out of them in the resort. The theming is not E-ticket but it fits for what it is and is very well thought out. It is a nice complimenting attraction considering it is right between two E-tickets of the land it is in within the park in a park that is full of E-tickets.

It scares the poopy out of me, but I always go because my brother loves it and I always remember my disappointment of one moment of not being able to do the BTTF ride because no one in my family really wanted to. And then it closed before my next visit. So when I see him frown cause we say no to Fear Fall, out of some weird mix of guilt and nostalgia I am forced to ride lol.

I love S&S towers, and the line for Doom is really cool. However, I won't go in if the posted wait is over 10 minutes because the line just moves painfully slow.

I like it just find it a little short in height and ride time, having been on power tower at Cedar point but still like it. agree with that maxairmike, over 10 mins isn't worth it
