When I was there on Monday - Po, Tigress and the Trolls were meeting between Animal Actors and French Street Bistro.
Are the new soundstages down by the lake replacing old soundstages? What is the impact going to be of these new stages?
It’s odd to see the trucks parked in the area slated for park expansion. It’s as if universal can’t make its mind up.
On the landscaping front, it’s interesting to see the sparse desert plants in the planters unlike the leafy lush plants found in Orlando. I guess water remains tight in Southern California still?

Universal is currently looking for performers to play Mr. Ping
Probably because they want to have a flex theater for whatever they may wish. If they want to get rid of SES or possibly even AA in the future to add rides, at least they will have this to work with. They could’ve easily have made this another extension of Harry Potter. Now we’re getting another 3D attraction. If it had to be about Deamworks, why not a roller coaster based on HTTYD?

Universal didn't screw themselves out of anything. There simply is more antitrust issues with Comcast than with Disney, thus a higher chance of the deal passing. Add in that it's an all-stock deal and Disney is picking up Fox's debt, Disney became the obvious choice for the Murdochs. It doesn't have as much space and with Disney's potential full merger with 21st Century Fox (which Comcast screw themselves out of the opportunity since Universal parks has the Simpsons area), Universal isn't gonna try and extend a 3rd party property when it already owns a DreamWorks Animation property where they don't have to share money at all and hasn't used it to the full extent.
