When this is finished does universal axe partner hotels? Or do you think universal will always keep them because of the layout of I Drive and the fact that universal is all in one spot.

Probably just a downgrade in perks and benefits - like no more partner packages for Potter. Disney still has its good neighbor hotels and such.

Question how many rooms do the all star resorts in compass together I am curious I cannot access a computer as quickly as I want to for the next eight hours so I figured I'd ask and check back in a few minutes OU is pretty good for quick facts LOL

If somehow Universal can manage to fit 4000 rooms on that property that is wet and wild now that would be absolutely insane in a good way though I would love to see that that would kick-start probably some great Redevelopment and new development in that area

An Egyptian theme can get tacky easily, reminds me of Vegas. I can see a Coronado Springs/Spanish type hotel fitting in that plot too.

This is my half assed idea for a hotel. Pier 12 gets it's name because it's a boardwalk with a pier and set in 1912, same year that Universal Studios was founded.

I'd have shops and restaurants across the boardwalk with a huge tower curving around the lake. Half the rooms would have a balcony facing onto the water where movies would be shown nightly on a huge screen and people can have the audio streamed directly to their rooms. I'd also have older timely cars on the beach where people can order food or a drink and watch the movies from there.

A ferris wheel would on the pier with maybe some older type rides.

I've got my dates mixed up but I had planned to have a bar set in prohibition times with nightly raids by the police as the bar converts itself into something different just in time. Something similar to this:

The rest is your basic hotel with a small shopping district to entice people off I Drive.

Excellent thoughts, I would think they utilize more of the lake though. Remember in the images that came out, Universal claimed about 5/6's of the entire lake. I imagine there's a reason.

Ok couple of thoughts...

4k rooms will basically be like a mega casino resort from Vegas. MGM Grand comes to mind.

If indeed family focused this will be a huge competitor for Disney and it's family focused market share. Well until the Star Wars hotel opens lol.

Now go out on a limb with me on this last thought. If indeed a 4k room resort, and with it being "offsite" I'd imagine it'd be the most affordable of any theme park anchored resort in Orlando. Disney and Universal feed off each other and will be fine financially. But what about all the hotels towards the northern side of I4 that cater to tourists? 4k rooms from a trusted brand in terms of competition is a force to reckon with. I could see some hotels offering to sell that may of not been willing to sell. Or it'll drive down prices thus taking more lodging business away from the Disney / 192 corridor. Could get interesting, just sayin.

No but seriously. Universal have kind of shot themselves in the foot here as any land at the side of Universal Blvd (that they would need to cross the I4 for any raised transport) has probably shot up in value since this hotel has came to light.

Very true, but once the hotel is built and sucking them dry as @Andy pointed out, their price will drop and their inclination to sell will rise.

Maybe for the hotels but I can see IHOP and Wallgreens doing crazy business.

It's going to kill the International Dr. hotel competition., no doubt. The room prices will be value due to the location.

Note too, that the further new hotel construction is from the parks, the taller they get. I am convinced they are attempting to keep the plain, more modern tower hotels from infringing on the parks. The volcano doesn't matter as it is themed. I expect the hotels built on this W&W site will be tall honkin things.

My biggest worry is if they can seamlessly add this hotel to the resort and make it feel as if your still part of the resort and not just in I Drive

^ Yeah, they are going to have to offer some very special perks to make it all worthwhile. Perhaps nix the early potter breakfast from RP and offer it to these new pricier rooms. Thoughts?

I think they need to offer this as less (value) so sub $100 should be the pricepoint for staying "offsite".

I love this idea so much. I'm just wondering if we're going too wild with imagination with this hypertheming if Aventura is so, so basic.

Hmmm... I thought DH was hinting at a posh resort. I certainly don't know a thing about hotel development at Universal so no idea... We must muse until DH tells us more I guess!
