The attraction suffers greatly from great ideas with poor execution compared to standards today. The AAs are absolutely atrocious and dated and there's a good deal of cheaping out in many areas. That tunnel you go thru in the queue has the rockwork as plasticky wallpaper which was completely jarring, many figures look... well, yeah, the flyover clearly needs a rework as you can see how awkward its placement is and let's not even talk about how this attraction is seemingly still celebrating the film's 20th annniversary. I get the defense and the attraction has potential, it's just not living up to it.

THIS!!

I always compared it to Peter Pan and it's not even close, so much better, but it is the Studios Pan. I geek out flying over the city. I'm holding out hope they save Nintendo for the 3rd park and stick SLOP or Bikini Bottom in KZ so ET is saved. (Yeah, I know it's not likely, and irony says we'll get SLOP when it takes ET's spot  )

Heres the thing, Nintendo is an asset that you don't need to use at strictly one park; due to the vast amounts of stories that you can tell from different universes.

I could accept the loss of E.T. on these two conditions.

1. It's replacement is Space Fantasy like Japan but themed to Super Mario Galaxy.

2. Terminator leaves the Hollywood section for a multilevel dark ride, "The Great Universal Movie Ride (name pending)," with scenes from movies like the Classic Monsters, Jaws, E.T., BTTF, etc.

Ok, maybe the first one alone would be enough for me ;)

I agree it doesn't have to be used at just one park, but I think I would rather see it implemented as one coherent land with different areas representing the different games they choose to utilize. To me to scatter little pieces of Nintendo amongst multiple parks would be very much like the way WDW has used Pixar. In my opinion if you took all the Pixar rides throughout WDW and combined them into one Pixar land it would be a much better experience. I would rather not see Nintendo go down that same route as Pixar.

And I get that fear, but I don't think that it would be something to worry about, considering their firm grip to their IPs; they would want to make sure their IPs are rightfully represented.

Unlike Pixar all of the same franchise could be kept in one park. E.g. Mario/DK stays in USF and Zelda in the third park unlike Toy Story being in both MK and DHS, Nemo in Epcot and AK, etc.

Yeah, I get that. I just feel like all together they have more value. You could enter the "World of Nintendo" and have all these different sub areas in it. To me it would tie them all together as Nintendo rather then leaving them to stand on their own as Mario or Zelda etc. It would be a much better treatment of the brand to have them all together. I guess it's kind of like Marvel island. Spiderman could have easily been in USH while Hulk was in IOA and it would work, I just feel like it would have taken you out of that world of Marvel and cheapened the attractions to small degree on their own.

Space Fantasy would work better as a voltron ride than Super Mario Galaxy. But I don't want ET to go away at all. It should stay. Its a great attraction still and all the newbies I go with always want to ride it again.

I guess the fan in me just wants to see a WWoHP level recreation of Hyrule.

Yeah I really want to see that too. I don't think separating it from the rest of Nintendo is needed for that. I'm also not getting my hopes up for a big Zelda presence in the park, as much as I would absolutely love it I'm not sure it's popular enough to to get a WWoHP type treatment. I kind of expect 90% of the focus to be Mario and some surrounding characters.

Huh? What about it wouldn't work? They're both in space. Just put all the SMG characters in there and make the story about them. Admittedly I don't know what the story of Space Fantasy is. Just that's it's a cool roller coaster set in space.

You leave Earth to go and save the sun from going out but the big thing which unless you ridden it is that the ride is interactive. The interaction isn't something I can see using Super Mario Galaxy and also Space Fantasy is screen based mostly which would go away from the lack of screens they would want.

Designed by GestureTek this revolutionary 3D camera tracking and multi-touch systems takes visitors into the future of entertainment as "the ride is equipped with 3D cameras and projection systems. This lets visitors control the content on the screens around them by simple hand gestures, enabling them to collect “Stardust Clouds” from the LED displays in a 98-foot, in-ride tunnel"

"Riders Collect ‘Star Dust’ To Save the Sun". As part of the ride, GestureTek's multi-touch software and custom-designed camera array powers an interactive experience where, for the first time ever, riders can control content on the screens around them, simply by gesturing with their arms. The premise of the Space Fantasy ride is the impending death of the sun. As guests travel by cart up a 98 foot in-ride climbing tunnel lined with Barco LED display tiles, they can collect energy from the ‘Stardust Clouds’, that will be used to re-energize the sun.

In SMG you collect Star Bits. Just make a few changes to the story, add AA's, and presto :)

Studios can't afford to lose ET now. It's one of the only rides, that is not screen based.

In my opinion, if I was Comcast; that would be short-term. Plus, its not like the entire resort is filled with screen based attractions (Looking at MIB, Mummy, a bulk of the IOA attractions) as there is still a good amount of practical attractions on property. Plus, when you think of the long term, it's plot would be used to the greatest potential (considering that DA did similar).

There are positives to it, and I think people haven't exactly looked at it from that angle..plus, if you include ET; it gives you almost a Carsland sized plot, and considering how well Universal has handled densing its areas with attractions; it would benefit it greatly in ways that I don't think people grasp yet.

Although, that's more my own opinion on the matter.

My feeling is that we could lose ET for now for Ninendo and then maybe in the third gate, we could have Amblin Way or something and dedicate it to Spielberg works with a new ET attraction as the centerpiece.

Totally down for this if we get a Gremlins dark ride and a Goonies play area that rivals Camp Jurassic.

I can't imagine Universal doing a new E.T. ride. With so many possibilities for new attractions I just don't see an upside for revisiting such an old IP that has already been in the park for soon.
