So Boeing expects it to be 2-3 years before the tourism industry is back where it was in 2019, and a few more years after that before we see real growth again.

This story is crazy on multiple levels. The fact that the Lakers even applied for a small business loan is outrageous enough, but the fact that they were granted over 4 million (which they are returning) is even worse. Going to have to go find me a political forum for the way this program has been administered. The only "give" I have is that many of these large companies that applied for and got loans were better represented and had the banking relationships in place than what the mom and pops had working. No wonder they got to the front of the trough.

So got to watching this video by the Trackers and while obviously they are just talking in hypotheticals and talking about the Universal survey, it is interesting to hear them talk through everything and think about what in the world are these parks going to actually look like? Every problem Universal offered to solve in the survey they were able to come up with multiple other ways that it just was creating more problems. For example simply on the mask issue. If everyone is required to have a mask, then you need to provide a mask, but at the same time, how do you know that the mask they are providing is sanitary?

Needless to say, it'll be very, very interesting how all of this is handled once the dust settles and they get to opening.

Oh of course. They actually went on to say exactly what you just said. I was just using it as an example. I found the video to be very candid and refreshing in thinking of how the parks are going to have to deal with this on many different fronts.

I don't think this is a terrible move. This was relying on spring festivals and would get swallowed up later in the year. That seems to be the logic with all studio comedies that are scheduled over the next few months; Sony just moved Seth Rogen's An American Pickle to HBO Max earlier today too

One of the aspects I keep seeing mentioned is keeping people out of indoor queues and areas as much as possible. Problem is, what do you do when it rains?

One of the aspects I keep seeing mentioned is keeping people out of indoor queues and areas as much as possible. Problem is, what do you do when it rains?

Maybe just extremely limit the queue capacity and do social distancing measures so then they could still use the inside and be 6 feet apart? Obviously queues would fill up quick doing that though, which would lead to spilling outside quite a bit.

Well people will need to take their masks off to eat....and they already don't wear masks when they are in their hotel room probably so as long as they are localized at their table with family/friend group, removing masks then shouldn't be an issue.

Restaurants will have to severely cutback on tables in order for it not to be an issue. The parks are also looking at things like only allowing one group on each ride vehicle/loading every other row to decrease contact between people on rides.

I watched Tim and Jenn's video recently as well, and I do agree with Jenn that every solution seems to create more problems.

Somewhat related, wardrobe has provided masks for TMs. They come with a page of instructions/guidelines on mask-wearing.



They come wrapped, per the image. However, I still washed mine before first use, as I've been doing with any reusable mask I buy/receive.

*If* UO did supply masks for guests, I would understand if guests didn't want to wear them right away due to wanting to wash them first (related to Jenn's comment about being unsure if they were sanitary or not), unless the packaging said they were sterile or whatnot.

My main worry is the parks open too early and a lot, like a fair amount, of cases are traced back to them. That would be bad PR for years for any theme park. I’d rather them just wait and take the hit now until all things are ready to go for keeping people safe and having the adequate testing across our country. Just my outside perspective though

It's just the nature of the time we're living through right now. People are being more cautious about staying clean and healthy now than I think any of us have probably ever been in our lives. Obviously there's only so much the parks will be able to do before it just becomes a case of "you probably shouldn't go" once they reopen if you are feeling iffy, but that also factors into when should they reopen. There's just a lot of factors to consider.
