Stumbled across this. Maybe its a coaster system with projected or screen based water/fog for the illusion of a boat experience

This is how you get Jaws in the Supercharged ride system…

Having now finally ridden DisneySea’s 20K attraction, a Creature ride featuring a similar system would be incredible. It’s deeply underrated.

Usually you and I are in sync, but I was miserable on that ride.

Is it all that random, though? I was thinking about how that (previously linked) pin came about. The Creature is drawn to beauty -- it's a flavor of Beauty and the Beast, after all -- and one of the chief conflicts of the original film is that the Gil Man wants Kay, but Kay is independent and has no interest in a romance with the Creature (for a litany of reasons). Is it that wild to suspect that a liberated Bride of Frankenstein couldn't stand in for Kay?

I thought this at that moment. Maybe he’s in love with her and she’s on her mission to thwart the capture of “monsters” from Victoria. So maybe Gilman is in love with her and she’s battling poachers.

At the risk of thread drift, man, because of the claustrophobia of it all? We got on it the day after it reopened from refurbishment, so all of the show effects looked sublime. Really taken aback by how eerie and fantastical it felt.

I have been to haunts that have used the fog illusion effect to simulate walking through water, and it is actually surprisingly effective.

If Universal used this along with some water splash effects, I think it would work really well.

One thing against is that it has lower throughput due to the trouble with slow unloading/loading of passengers. Also, it doesn't seem very friendly to those with physical disabilities.

On the first point, really? I observed very swift operations, with I believe two or even three submarines being loaded at once before being dispatched for a staggered launch just past the load platform. Some occasional confusion on where some guests are supposed to end up inside, but nothing that took more than a few seconds to clarify.

As for physical disabilities, I would be surprised if there weren't at least one or two submarines that were modified for wheelchairs/disability access. It appeared most major attractions at Tokyo Disney either had alternate vehicle configurations or discrete loading areas.

Either way, and bringing this back to Epic, I don't think these would be reasons to rule out Universal attempting this type of ride system if they were so inclined. The patent applications floating around suggest they may be going in a different direction for aquatic creatures, though.

I've found that Japan, in general, is not a mobility-or-physical-disability-friendly country at all. A lot of buildings, stations, parks, rides, and even certain roads are not accessible to everyone. This is usually noted with their mobility and safety requirements outside of entrances to most places (when you can find them), but i'd be lying if i said i remembered seeing a single wheelchair my entire time there for like the entire month of May anywhere from Tokyo to Osaka.

20,000 Leagues is a ride where people have to be able to stand up and move to the vehicle in order to transfer. They do not have any specific vehicles allowing wheelchairs or mobility devices.

But back to the EPIC and the disappointing revelation that we're no longer rumored to be getting the Creature version of Dollywood's MACK Nightflight ride system that we've all been literally begging Universal for - and more news at 5...

This is the ride vehicle for 20k in Japan.

Compared to the OG vehicles I can easily see a solution for wheelchair guests.

i know, i went on it.

When you enter the queue there are signs that say "not wheelchair accessible, must be able to transfer" to some effect. Surprisingly, almost every ride at Disney Sea requires the user to be able to transfer. For this specific ride, they don't have vehicles without the chairs bolted to the ground (or the ones that swivel with the door) is what i'm saying.

https://media2.tokyodisneyresort.jp/home/download/bfree/informationbook_en.pdf
(pages 28-29: must be able to walk and transfer unassisted)

EDIT:
I looked into WHY this ride requires you to transfer and does not allow wheelchairs: It's because it descends a bit (something i wasn't aware of even on the ride) and that they would require people to climb out of several different sections via ladder (no elevator). Someone who cannot transfer from a chair on their own would be denied boarding because they wouldn't be able to evacuate the ride in an emergency situation.

@Clive and @Parkscope Joe I'm sorry. My eyes are worn out today, apparently. For some reason, I thought that you meant the subs at Disneyland's 20K ride, not DisneySea. This would be a fun style of ride for many different scenarios at Epic.

For the Black Lagoon, though, I would want it to start off above water level and then somehow transition to underwater (or faux underwater) after an attack. Then, the creature could continue terrorizing the riders in his element.
