Good idea! General discussion for all the food (and drink) you can get your hands on at Epic Universe. Have at it!

To start off (from my review post)—

Oak & Star— beautiful space. I tried the two meat platter with brisket and pulled pork, burnt ends baked beans for side. Brian had same but with brisket and the sausage, mac and cheese for side, plus a side of the tropical slaw. All was delicious— 14 hour smoked brisket melts in your mouth. Pulled pork, beans, mac and cheese, slaw are all great. Meat comes unsauced with four types of sauce on the table. Great barbecue— as good as Four Rivers.

We tried the red velvet coffin cake at Das Stakehaus was great— like a premium Devil Dog in flavor.

Pizza Moon— fun interior with lots of great visuals. We split the Nonnarossa which was delicious and a decent size to share. All the food looked great there and people seemed to enjoy it. We also tried the moon phase cake— Meyer lemon olive oil cake with a limoncello sauce, fresh blackberries, and crunchy raspberry things. I loved it— perfect balance of sweet and tart, but Brian found the sauce too boozy (he’s not a big drinker).

Really impressed with all the food so far!

Burning Blade Tavern - tried the garlic pretzel. It almost killed me with the overload of flavor lol and that's a good thing. It was also a good size as I did not finish it all as I wanted to try other things. I also got one of the premix drinks. I won't do that again as it was like those HHN premix drinks and I felt ripped off.

Oak & Star - had the 2 meat plus side. Picked the brisket and ribs with the collard greens. Also had the sticky cake. The meats were good for theme park quality (i'm from the south so great BBQ isn't that hard to come by especially at a james beard nom join near me). The collards were safe. Could have used more flavor and the cornbread reminded me of sweet potato cornbread. The cake was pretty good I just wish it was a way to have it delayed until I was finish eating. I did get a drink from the Owl bar and it was strong! I had the old fashion and it was sooo good. I had to sip slow lol.

Adventuring with Annie gave a great rundown on a lot of the food options:

Das Stakehaus - Vibes are great... however the food was not. Ordered the Blood Orange Sandwich and it was alright. Going to try to find "the" meal at Das as the vibes are what I enjoyed and hope something gives me a reason to come back outside of just being there lol. Monocane Mocktail is great.

Toadstool - Surprisingly enjoyed the food here more than Das. Chef Toad Chicken Special is a really good (and somewhat healthier option) as it's filling yet a lighter option than a burger or the meatball challenge. Cheesy Garlic Knots are great.

Cafe L'ar de La Sirene - surprised by the size of the sandwiches. Easily shareable between two guests. The Butterbeer Crepe... I have no words. A must do, and UOR has another hit on their hands with this. It'll be interesting to see if they opt to sell these elsewhere as I can see lots of folks taking up seating just for the crepe.

Haven't eaten inside everywhere, but did take a peek into most restaurants and they are all fun and unique. Really fond of how it all came out. Lots of indoor seating thankfully.

I was worried Atlantic would come off as tacky, I was wrong. The interior is gorgeous and I can see the bar being a hot spot for locals. It's whimsical & elegant at the same time.

Overall, UOR has a hit with Epic dining... however I do worry that most of these restaurants (or the least popular ones) will shutter early in the day with no AP/locals base to come in later in the evening to support running them into the evening. It's pretty evident they built Epic to accommodate lots of dining capacity.

So Monday’s trip we tried some new things:

Das Stakehaus— we both had the Carved Staked Steak. It was delicious. More like a cut of tender roast beef than steak, but very tasty. The side of mashed potatoes and grilled carrots were so good, I could have eaten twice as much.

Mead Hall— we tried the Stormfly’s Catch of the Day (goldfish). Super rich chocolate mousse and the buttery cookie crumbs were a nice complement.

Goblet Noir— I had the Bratwurst on pretzel bun with grilled onions and beer cheese. Messy, but delicious. Brian had the Jaegerschnitzel which was so perfectly crisp and crunchy. Both came with the best French fries I’ve ever had at a theme park. They reminded me a lot of the fries at Hot Dog Heaven (if you know it, you know)- perfectly crisp and hot (and held their temperature well). We did the Black Forest cake as a dessert— really rich chocolate with the cherries inside, just a few dollops of whipped cream on top and a dark chocolate tree on top. Really good, though I would like a little more whipped cream. Excellent meal and great atmosphere.

Overall the food seems to be really good throughout the park, and the “real” plates and silverware everywhere help to elevate the dining experience throughout the park. I hope they stay, but could easily see them change to the higher end disposables they use in the other Potter areas as a cost savings in the future. The quick service through the app also makes dining faster and more convenient, as well as elevating the experience to be more like table service.

To be honest, a lot of the featured meals and menu items sound super heavy and kind of miserable to eat in Orlando summers (when I'm going for the first time), lol.

Hoping that the Nordic Harvest Salad at Mead Hall can get me through my three days in June! The last thing I want is to be carb-bloated, sweating, and flipping upside down (?) while a monster animatronic breathes hot air in my face (?) - I haven't ridden any rides or read any spoilers so I have no idea if either of those things happen. This is just reminiscent of the time where I was carb-bloated, sweating, and got flipped upside down on Forbidden Journey while something shot hot air into my face

There may be a hot air blast complete with fire on Monsters. Maybe, IDK.

I can't eat 5 Guys between April and Nov. in Orlando. If I do I sweat grease.

One Nordic Harvest Salad can feed the entire park, so just order it the first day and eat it for all 3 days.

The Chef Toad's Herb Special from Toadstool is a pretty light, yet filling meal. Not fried or anything, so its relatively healthy

OK, so I went to Atlantic. The room is stunning. The fish overhead are on a track and move slowly all the time. They were out of the Lobster Roll ($48). So I had the shrimp/pasta dish ($28). When it came my initial reaction was it was a small portion. Yea, I couldn't finish it. It was in a creamy tomato sauce. And was delicious. There was no bread service, which is a little surprising for a table service restaurant. But overall I think it will be popular.

The bar alone will be Epic's most popular probably. Right at the front of the park and the best views. Burning Blade unfortunately suffers from being a small space.

It's a very upscale offering. The sleeper hit bar is going to be The Plasterd Owl. It is stunning with a wall of stained glass.

Sorry, double post. My bad.

Shrimp pasta in a tomato sauce sounds like a dream. Especially at that price.

From New England, who goes to a higher end seafood restaurant often, a $48 Lobster Roll is absolutely absurd pricing. That’s $15-$20 way too much. Need to do something else with Lobster to charge those types of prices.

It is a full half pound of butter poached lobster, but still $48 is a bit much.

$48 is more appropriate for 4 whole lobsters.

So going during previews later this month. A little confused with dining. I see the menus aren't in the app yet from what I could gather. I'm assuming mobile order is working based on the previous comments. For sit down restaurants, is it first come first served since I didn't see a way to make reservations.
