But be forewarned: they're REALLY pushing the app as the only way to the order to the point of being almost rude about it.

That's very frustrating to hear, and that does not sound like world-class service to me.

I am not going to have good things to say about my experience if I'm constantly being treated like an annoyance because I want to pay with physical money.

The quasi-table service is my least favorite thing about Toadstool Cafe and it’s such a huge bummer that Epic is going full steam ahead on the idea. The whole mobile ordering component just seems to make it even more strange.

I actually don't mind mobile ordering and prefer it even. When it works great like at Minions Cafe, I'm all for it. Plus the fact that it lets you apply your AP discount unlike Disney? Even better!

But if it's not working or you need an alternative for any reason, it should be readily available and not have to discuss with a manager to be "allowed" to order at a register like in my experience.

That is absurd.

I'd love to know what the rationale is for making guests jump through hoops like that. Because if they want a cashless park, just make it a cashless park and publicly announce that policy. I would spend significantly less in that scenario, but at least they'd be above-board and clear about it, and everyone would know where things stand. No "make certain guests feel like second-class citizens for having certain preferences and/or needs to try to push them towards the payment method we want" treatment necessary.*

* I mean, it's not necessary now, either, obviously.

Oh no, I’m a big mobile order-er, and my Magic Key applies its discount at Disneyland so it’s weird to hear WDW doesn’t do the same.

It’s moreso, as belloq noted, the aggressive push towards making mobile ordering a part of a multi-step process. I wouldn’t be upset if you could just mobile order and pick up your food. But it seems that’s not what’s going on here.

I go to Orlando to get off my phone, not make it part of my experience. This all sounds extremely frustrating and a poor, unnecessary use of technology.

My experience has been positive with ordering through the app. Much better to be sitting at a table than standing on a quick serve line. The only time we experienced an issue with the speed of service was at Three Broomsticks, but the place was packed so it was understandable.

I’ve been craving that mudslide since my last visit. All those frozen drinks were good and really strong!

5 Guys might be a bit too much in the summer.

Maybe 3 guys.

I’m really split between which restaurants I love the most here. Pizza Moon, Meteor Astropub, Oak + Star, Cafe L’air De La Sirene, and Spit Fyre Grill have all been amazing! Also those macaroni cones in Isle of Berk - I would literally do ANYTHING to have those macaroni cones again. I personally can’t wait until I’m able to try these options again at some point!

I'm looking forward to trying the black forest cake at Le Gobelet Noir.

(One of the few things without cheese in it ;))

It was good, but very rich-- kind of like a flourless torte consistency with the cherries baked into it. I would have liked a little more whipped cream, but I ALWAYS could go for a little more whipped cream.

I'll wash it down with a beer, that should counter the richness!

It's a "Tiki" bar. Everything has to have either pineapple or coconut.

Don't @ me, I didn't make up the rules.

The daiquiris, margaritas, and piña coladas are good too— just the mudslide was REALLY good! I’m sure Polynesian islands could have mudslides ;)

It needs to go all in with the Tiki.

I'm perfectly fine with the mobile ordering - but I do wish there was more customization in the app. Maybe I just don't want pickles, ya know?

Even if they don't want to put individual options like "No Lettuce/No Pickle/etc", just having a general notes section to say what you'd like to change would be enough.

I was messing around with the Disneyland app this morning and was surprised to see there's really no option for customization there, either. I've used mobile ordering there dozens of times and if you had asked me, I would have (incorrectly!) told you that you can customize your orders.

I understand why they might prefer to limit customization (it has basically singlehandedly ruined being a Starbucks barista!) but at these quick service locations where things are assembled on a line and aren't typically pre-mixed, the orders (with customizations) should just print up on an order ticket. Anyway, I guess we'll see how this develops but if I can customize my Taco Bell order to absurd proportions, we should be able to make modest changes to our theme park food orders.

Even a basic list of items that are on it that you can uncheck to remove them would be a big improvement. They don't need to get into letting people add items or extra anything. I get there might be a slight loss of efficiency that way, but if the workers at a McDonald's or Wendy's can handle it, there's no reason a theme park worker can't.
