It would make sense. It doesn’t look like the demand for the paid preview has come close to how busy the parks were for TMs. You’d think Universal would want a bit more of a stress test.

Easier to attract a crowd when entrance is free.

Definitely. I have no doubt that many of the hotel guests have balked at the $180 price tag when offered.

Interestingly the language in the FAQ mentioning that the previews are only available to select guests has been removed, but it is still on the main preview page.

EDIT: looks like it is still in there but I feel like it is more vague on exactly who the select guests are now, where before it was very clear only AP and Hotel guests.

Apparently at any of the hotels you can just walk in and buy them (Universal or partner hotels) guest or not.

Can you buy them in advance, or just in the morning for that day?

Is that a price drop from the hotel preview tickets?

I'm pretty bummed. I bought AP preview tickets for 5/3, which sold out of preview tickets. I expected lowered capacity. I am sure it will still be lower capacity than when it's 100% go time and open, but it's not what I was sold when I bought my tickets. They could have easily waited for the time period after AP previews ended thru 5/20. I'm paying a lightly discounted AP rate for a one day ticket for my husband and I, staying at a Universal resort... all to lose what felt "special," about the reason I purchased in the first place. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to see the park, but I wouldn't have coughed up the money for this spur of the moment trip if I didn't feel I was getting some sort of benefit from it when I already have a trip planned in August. I am going to cross my fingers that maybe this is because of people adjusting their ticket dates and opening up some space for additional tickets to be sold.

Another failed rollout. Seems like they could've done this for the dates they just added (May 10 - 19?). A travel agent friend said "There was already an allotment for APs and Visa cardholders which are already full, but I'm seeing that the previews are at 20% capacity so it's very limited"

If they're just trying to backfill capacity to max their previously allotted tickets, that's ok. If they're adding the total number of tickets that they plan to sell, then that sucks for those of us who couldn't attend TM previews.

Then there's nothing really to get mad at uni about. We all would love to visit the parks half full.

But if you start selling normal three-park multi-day tickets, you run the risk of people seeing those and passing on the multi-day-but-only-one-day-at-Epic tickets in 2025.
