I mean, I'll watch it, you have some strong actors and interesting visual effects to carry the load here. But they really plan to squeeze two more movies out of this?

They're really putting the cart before the horse here and pumping out these sequels even though interest has been dwindling with every subsequent release. I fear Disney's Avatar sequels will go down the same route.

Throwing JKR’s name in big letters on her own title card is a choice though.

The weirdest thing so far is the total (and I mean total) lack of Katherine Waterston -- the female lead of the previous two movies -- anywhere in any of the marketing. She's on none of the posters, and in none of the trailers. Yet, per IMDB, she's in the movie.

Maybe that's a mistake and she's actually not in the movie (strange if so, but whatever), but if she is, it's an extremely odd thing to be playing coy about.

Anyway, Mikkelsen looks good, I guess.

I know the situation with Katherine Waterson might have to deal with the fact that she's a new mother and had her kid right when they were going to start filming. But other rumors abound that her part was greatly reduced after she very publicly called out JKR a while back. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Like....why I am suppose to care? The main character who was not a fighter already beat the main bad guy. I feel like Fantastic Beasts should have had its own arc and then moved into dumbledore story. I feel like this will be the best film because things seem to be happening but also why does Jacob have a wand (because he's a fan favorite) but these films feel like the sequels they clearly had no idea on what the story of these films would be and are making it up as they go.

I see many people loving seeing the castle again but basically that's all this film has its "omg remember this" while Mando had some of that it was it's own story and even the music was unique but honeslty...I want to meet someone excited for this film and ask why because the fact its in the Potter Universe

I think it's clear that after the first movie not resonating the way they expected, it was decided to get it closer to the OG series. I suspect that if things proceed and they do 5 movies, the 4th will be a bridge between the fall of Grindewald and Tom Riddle, and the 5th will be the rise of Voldemort and end where Sorcerer's Stone began.

Don't have multiple directors with creative control over the overall story line?

Or rather have a trilogy planned with each film laid out before doing it.

The Marvel Method, to an extent.

Oh man, can we just skip to The Rise of Voldemort? That sounds like a way more interesting film. Just one and done that. Don’t make it a whole trilogy.

Pretty much. JJ clearly had an idea, Johnson threw it out, then JJ had to retcon it to fit whatever his vision was. Regardless which one you think was the better movie, how it was handled was a disaster. The disconnect between the movies was jarring.

At least there is some consistency in the FB movies, but it has it's own dumpster fires.

I STILL haven't watch FB 2, never mind this movie. I enjoyed the first one and would probably say it was a decently good movie that didn't need a sequel, let alone two. No idea if 4 and 5 are still on the table.

I have no plans to watch Crimes of Grindelwald or this movie because I don't want the enjoyment I had for that first movie to be ruined

A Voldemort/Tom Riddle movie does sound like it has promise. It has to be done right, though.

First reactions are actually very, very positive so far. I may actually have to watch Crimes of Grindelwald now so that I eventually can watch this movie and understand what the hell is going on.

I mean, first reactions usually are (WW84). I'd wait for reviews first.

WW84 was a pretty big outlier. Yes, the people who see the movie first do generally having a higher opinion, which has been proven by Dan Murrell (in the video below), but WW84 is an extreme example.
