No worries man! Yeah, I think wicked in that area doesn't fit it all too, maybe neither Pokémon too. It's a very tricky spot for sure.

This would be the best alternative! We're in Universal's renaissance and BTTF ride is already being constructing in UK. Everything is possible at this point; We just need to make our voices heard:)

I realize that this is a late post but I love the sound Intamin launches. It is just pure ear candy.

Personally I'd rather have a giant concrete slab than Pokemon, but that's just me

Blumhouse Dark Universe...just kidding.

I'll be happy if they leave out any annoying "we're family" audio. Leave that for the short bus in Florida.

I’m inclined to think all of that is made up. This sounds like somebody’s fanfiction. “I met Creative and gave them my ideas and they loved me so much they told me classified information about the next ten years of the theme park and offered me an internship, and naturally I went straight to a forum they pay attention to and leaked everything they told me!” Yeah right…

Putting Wicked in Simpsons is a modern Disney level move. I don’t see that going anywhere except maybe tram.

Tbf, Wicked: For Good domestic opening weekend is looking like a Top Gun Maverick performance. It is almost certainly coming to the US parks at some point.

Hill Valley seems to me like the most obvious and best replacement… they could do that land so much better now with their modern approach to fully immersive areas and a ride that isn’t a simulator.

Don’t want to take this thread off-topic, but Hill Valley would at least be a good “quick fix” replacement for something long-term they can come up with down the line. Just quickly convert the Simpsons back to BTTF: The Ride (Restored) and change the restaurants to Hill Valley. Krusty Burger > Cafe 80’s, etc.

I’m not a huge fan of Wicked, but I can tolerate it if it means the food is an improvement and they replace the simulator building for something like Danse Macabe from Efteling. Wicked would seem like an odd choice to me considering the whole point of Springfield is to sell food. Wicked just doesn’t strike me as that kind of IP that would do that.

I still think the best possible ip to replace Simpsons would be Bikini Bottom. Like, the replacement is right in front of you lol. Even I catch myself mistaking calling Krusty Burger the Krusty Krab.

Back to Hollywood Drift, it doesn’t make ANY sense to have December softs when it’s obvious it won’t be ready for that. They still have to finish those scream shields, get the rest of the trains there, finish the landscaping and then complete all of the full test cycles. No openings anytime this year guaranteed. Softs during Spring and grand opening in May that’s what I’m thinking. I could see softs happening during FFN with signs advertising technical rehearsal.

If you don’t mind, would you mind if you explain why you don’t want to see Wicked at the park? I’ve been seeing this opinion a lot online and since I never watched the movie, I would like to understand where they are coming from?

^ it's a dude thing. Wicked is seen as "chick fantasy". I don't get it, but it's what I've heard.

Well I think that’s the general idea, but if we are being fair, a wicked themed replacement for the Simpsons area technically could work I guess but with fast and furious right there it would be a weird transition to oz LOL

I’ve seen the musical about 8 times, starting from when I was six and most recently in 2023. I just really, REALLY hate the incredibly ugly, greenscreen-cgi worst of the worst marvel special effects 250m budget nothing-is-real slop visual direction of the movie.

The musical art direction masterfully blends really tasteful 1939-Oz inspired whimsy and steampunk elements with more grounded sets and costumes like Shiz, because it’s a very human and real story being told with exaggerated fantasy elements to illustrate its points. The movie makes every scene maximalist and never pulls back at all, its sensory overload from start to finish and it makes it hard to enjoy.

I also have a really difficult time emotionally investing when all the characters are AAA mega-stars and I’m looking at them super close up for two and a half hours. I have that issue with a lot of musical adaptations, but it’s especially bad here. I didn’t like the changes to the songs for the most part and the extra hour of length was super unnecessary and largely just boring. It felt like they just reallyyy wanted to stretch it into two films.

This is a LOT of people’s first introduction to the story, and I can’t blame them in the slightest for loving it. It’s an amazing soundtrack and story! I WISH I wasn’t cursed with all these strong opinions. So yeah, respect if you enjoy the movie, but I’ve tried three times and I’ve accepted that I’m never going to enjoy it. Unless they based the land off the musical visuals, 1939 Oz or general public domain original book imagery I’ll probably be inescapably annoyed every time I walk through this hypothetical land.

My hope is that they throw it into the Tour as a Supercharged replacement and that’s it for Hollywood. Supercharged… what was this thread about again? Oh yeah. To get back on topic… what does everyone think of the new merch that just released? (ALSO FINALLY PROMOTED TO MINION WOOO)
