I gotta know the reason behind this support structure. Why is it a bridge?

I can only think that it’s for catwalks on both sides, since this would likely be an evacuation point for the ride (plus maintenance needs if there are LSMs over the hop). It definitely looks different than I’m used to seeing, though I could just be misremembering or forgetting about similar support structures on other rides.

Definitely Catwalks for evac, its an airtime hill before the spike, so in the eventuality that it clears the hill but valleys in-between that and the spike they need quick way to get people off - the alternative is calling the fire brigade to do it for them. Someone posted some silly theory that the side anchor points are for a canopy to provide shade for the LSMs - when cooling options exist on all the other intamin LSMs that sit in sunlight.

Why not both? A canopy would actually help shield riders if it valleys before getting unloaded onto the (shaded) bridge. Plus we get a head-chopper.

Its hard to imagine the train moving slow enough in that section to ever valley there, not disagreeing though.

I think it is worth making very clear that a valley in this section, is very different to the kind of valley Stardust and HRRR used to experience, we are not talking about a gravity section. We are talking about LSMs powering a very heavy train full of people over a airtime hill that appears to be about 7 metres high hill, then up a 50 metre spike. It might seem crazy that Hagrid's fails on the spike, but seemingly it does. LSMs fail to energise correctly, yes rollbacks my be quite rare but certainly less rare than gravity/air&wheel friction events, but clearly they felt the need to remove the need to call the fire brigade if it does happen, and make maintenance much easier too.

They are not spending big money asking Intamin to fabricate a bespoke canopy when the existance of a catwalk, alone, speeds up evac signifcantly. If this shade idea was even a real problem that needed solve there are cheaper ways than asking Intamin to incorporate it into their ride.

I think we can all agree that they're probably planning to setup a video tunnel like the Hulk launch. In this case, though, they already did most of the R&D for Supercharged and will probably just move the Supercharged tunnel over. They'll have Vin Diesel flying that chopper above you racing down I4... /s

Maybe it's just like Curse of the Werewolf and they want protection near an area where guests may be

This is a serious forum, and I can't understand why you are making a mockery of it by suggesting that Vin Diesel will be on a CGI helicopter when everyone knows once they've finished filming the last Fast film he will need work and is willing to fly on a real helicopter for this ride, he will take Sundays off

I think the more likely issue will be the switch track not moving and them having to stop the train and then restart it.

The next block zone is literally the next leg into the brake run which then feeds a dual unload. They're not going to kill the launch where there's a MCBR right before the spike.

Yes, but sometimes things stop working. The switch track on hagrid does from time to time. If it does with this, it's full stop for the whole ride and that's the likely evacuation point.

I didn’t realize the MCBR would be sequenced right before the launch, so I hear you there.

I actually forget what kicked off this conversation, but to @fryoj point, the LSM stators could certainly could be utilized to slow a train should the switch track fail to indicate as properly aligned, no? And then presumably the coaster could also self recover the train (from beneath the speculated canopy) given its resting right above the stators?

That's my assumption. At the bunny hill area they'll have a way to stop, start, evac, all of it. Probably at the MCBR as well.
