I completely agree. Not super excited about the reboot. I'm still going to see it though and who knows....if it makes the big bucks maybe USF will replace Twister with a new Ghostbusters attraction.

I'm still kind of disappointed with the all female cast, with the director of bridesmaids taking the helm... It's like literally the last configuration for a reboot I'd expect or even take seriously as a concept. The script better be amazing... but from the apparent leaks... I'm not optimistic.

Not either...There are examples however where certain directors have genre hopped pretty well...if this is going to be like Walking Dead like it says....I'm just hoping that Melissa McCarthy is given time to do more serious stuff...not the "it's funny because I'm a big girl" humor that she is always thrown into...Kristen Wiig is also a great actress..This could go very good or very bad..either way, I'll see it haha

this is so sad not because its females but just because it doesn't stick true to its original concept i think the theories from the beginning of this thread would make a great movie seth rogan and company..

Do we know if this film is set in the 80's yet? Every shot you see everything screams 80's at me.

Almost had me until the slapstick crap at the end.

Melissa McCarthy falls over. Other fat one screams loudly.

No thanks.

Nope. The trailer starts off "30 years ago" so its set in the present time.

I agree. Though I'd be apt to say replace The Mummy with just about any popular IP that would fit the New York area at this point. While I love The Mummy, on my honeymoon visit a few months ago it was in rough shape. Out of 4 rides on it, only one was even close to having proper timing on the effects. Replace it with Ghostbusters and utilize The Mummy IP as part of a Universal Monsters addition to the 3rd park... Ok, that last part is wishful thinking! Lol

As far as the trailer goes, I'm kind of mixed on how it looks. I'm actually really enjoying the look and feel of the ghosts and think the visual effects match the property rather well... The humor is just not doing it for me... Though I did get a laugh out of the Exorcist reference at the end, so I guess that's something. I hope the next trailer appeals to me more... I want to like this movie.

I'm just over Melissa McCarthy.

Also, lots of thumbs down for the video. Ouch.

They said in a special screening and Q+A of the trailer that the ghosts are a mix of Practical and CGI

The 30 years ago seems to have no connection other than fandom. There is no evidence of that being a storytelling element yet. This seems to be more remake than any connection. This is why I hate the term "reboot" anyway. Either you are remaking the story or a sequel. This seems to be more remake.

Well in its defense, it seems like that could be the case of the "anti-female Ghostbuster" crowded coming out in force if the comments are anything to go by... Almost every other comment reads like "I enjoyed the look of it, but it women Ghostbusters so it'll suck." There's even a comment that says, and I'm paraphrasing, "It's an all female cast, of course it won't be funny. Female comedians have nothin to offer in terms of humor." Now I didn't particularly enjoy the humor in the trailer, but come on, that is beyond an idiotic statement and sexist to boot.

I really like Paul Feig, but this doesn't deliver much in terms of laughs. But I'm sure it'll just be silly fun.

Saying that, Kristen Wiig's face is just naturally funny.

It honestly just reminds me of a Ghostbuster version of Bridesmaids. Not exactly what I had in mind...

This does nothing for me. And Melissa McCarthy, who always reminds me of Roseanne, makes me want to puke.

The Kate Mckinnon character is honestly the only great thing with this trailer, otherwise, I'm reeeeeeeally trying to like it, but the original was all about the dialogue, this one has too much of the Bridesmaids style physical comedy which is what I was scared about when Feig was attached.

That looks awful. I tried to be positive going into it, I really enjoyed bridesmaids but this doesn't feel anything like a ghostbusters film.
