Personally I don't believe this Tot/GotG rumor for one second. Do I think Disney may be angling for a GotG ride at DHS? yes. But I think this was just something released by an imagineer that carries little weight or to try and squash it before it got off the ground.

We can only hope. Doesn't help that Disney not wanting to pay CBS anymore is also part of this rumor.

It's interesting to note that people that have sent e-mails about this have gotten replies saying it absolutely is not true instead of a standard reply. Of course, you can't expect one hand to know what the other is doing at Disney.

But they have Tokyo's version of ToT which doesn't involve Twilight Zone and it works.

Aside from the fact Guardians is too similar to Star Wars, if this is only Marvel get they can work with.... do you really think Disney is that dumb to shoehorn it into ToT?

They have BH6 as well, which, imo could make a nice superhero land and good transitions from Star Wars to GotG and then BH6 to Pixar.

See, I don't think GotG and Star Wars should be in the same park, let alone next to each other. Only problem is you can't really put it anywhere else unless they wanna force it into Tomorrowland.

The problem is the only other place it can really go in DHS is a layover of RNRC and use the movie soundtrack to replace Aerosmith. But DHS needs new rides and GotG can be so much more than a 1:30 coaster.

I'd rather that since it's at least somewhat different than what Star Wars will be.

A GotG ride can be far more comedic than what I envision the SW rides as. Hell, they can wait awhile on GotG if they want. GotG 2 comes out next year and then I believe they're in The Avengers (which doesn't pertain to the contract as contract is comic only). They could wait until well after SW Land. And who knows, maybe we'll even end up with something IJ related ride wise with the new movie coming.

So basically, I think it's still to early to be talking about a GotG ride. However, Rafiki's should become Zootopia very soon. The train could even be rethemed as the monorail from the movie.

Ok, sorry. Back on-topic.

Still too similar, even though GotG is more light in tone.

Also, contract isn't comic only. It's anything that falls under Marvel brand.

The present inventory of the Marvel characters is set forth in the schedule to be attached or provided by Marvel promptly after execution hereof, plus any characters developed or acquired or licensed in the future by Marvel which (x) are marketed under the Marvel “Banner” or (y) were previously marketed under the Marvel “Banner” during the term hereof and are subsequently marketed under the “Banner” of a Marvel Related Company

Yeah. Quite a few good people, most of whom post here also. Mike S. is one of those & one of the best contributors on both sites. In fact, I've often seen him stand up to that hostile segment of posters over there that bash both Universal & Disney. But, bottom line, this is a much friendlier site and easier to have a good conversation than any other site. Only OI comes close, but their forums seem small in comparison to OU.

Well about those OI forums.............

Yes I do actually based on their recent behavior. Also the fact I've seen four different sources on this; 3 for WDW and one that's more focused on DL but also heard it for WDW.

About Tokyo if Disney could give us a new story that's original it would definitely be a good option. However, another aspect of this rumor is that the project would only take 5 months. Our version was designed completely around the fact that it would be based on The Twilight Zone and 5 months does not seem like enough time to do anything of this sort properly.

I don't believe this for a second, it's way too stupid to be real. It's like when people were claiming frozen was gonna take over the haunted mansion, like c'mon now. However if this does happen......I'll have no faith in imagineering until the day I die. Talk about one of the worst ideas that's ever come out of not only the theme park industry but Disney as a company. That's really saying something there just....nooooooo

One thing I will say is I can't stand Bob Chapek.

Tom Staggs at least was slightly interested in the parks on a personal level and was much more of a likeable guy. Chapek just looks at the parks as living, breathing dollar signs and is a very smarmy man.

But in reality look at their RECENT actions. Adding capacity to two rides that really needed capacity added to them, getting closer to finishing a highly themed land, start Star Wars and Toy Story lands which both lands meet needed holes in DHS, and adding night time stuff to the only park without night time stuff. The only decision I question is the whole Frozen thing. But I think many parks do silly things like the Frozen thing to get an IP quickly into a park. But GoTG I don't think NEEDS to be a quick turn around like Frozen did. Frozen was their best IP since Lion King. It had people clamoring for more things Frozen, so they took the easy way out. But while I don't agree with the decision the IP did fit the Norway area. And while Norway was on their top rides, it is only because Epcot sucks when it comes to rides. If Norway ride had been in any other park it would not have the waits it did. But Tot is a quality ride that is very popular in its current state. GotG makes no sense being in Tot it has zero fit in there.

I just think this is one of the stupidest things I have heard in a long time when it comes to Disney. DHS is going to be pulling in people left and right with TSL and SWL, so putting a quick overlay just makes no sense. It isn't going to add people to the park that aren't already there for TSL (which I don't see GotG opening before 2018) or won't be there the next year when SWL opens. So they are going to spend money to get what? Disney is all about money these days. Cut costs, add stuff to get higher attendance, and add hard ticket stuff to pull more money out of pockets of people. This just doesn't follow anything Disney has been doing in the last 2 years.

I can see it being pitched in a blue sky phase maybe, but I don't see how it ever makes it up to Iger.

Someone along the way would have to realize that ToT is one of their most popular rides and imo, their best and there's no reason to waste money on this.

Can we also mention Disney would be closing, for at least a year, the iconic ride of the park when it's one of five rides in the park.

This is something I want to touch on. I was making coffee and eating my Cheerios this morning thinking "a rumor that just appears and is quickly 'verified' by three other sources doesn't just happen". I came up with a few theories.

1.) The attraction is known by several and they waited till someone spilled the beans first before they start talking. (This is what happened with SLoP, heard about that back in September 2015).

2.) The attraction is so early that outside of the core project team and some others (legal, etc) it is not known about. This is then quickly confined by others who know who to ask directly. (This is what happened with Kong in Disaster! plot that HTF leaked.)

3.) This rumor is complete fabrication either by someone in Disney (or Universal for that matter) or by the source. This could be to test the waters legally, to find leaks in the company, or "eh lets screw with the guy".

I'm going with #2, combined with this being a chip in the discussions with CBS on the TZ license.

Plus what we have to remember is so many concepts get tossed around that are NOWHERE CLOSE to actually going to happen. One of my favorites was Rosie's Test Track, I kid you not, a Rosie O'Donnell lead version of the original test track that was focus tested by Disney in the 90s.
