5 mazes? If you're including TWDA, not much of a surprise.

Given the slowness of the timeline, I would expect Blumhouse to be announced post-Scare Academy again (i.e., around the first of September).

I’m surprised they haven’t just announced UCM yet, it’s their own property and they’re running really short on timing. Poltergeist is probably gonna be the next house announced though

UCM is probably sponsored by someone who needs to sign off on something. That could be the only reason for the hold up at this point.

Right. Especially if there's any filming for an announcement video that needs to be done.

Wouldn't it of been easier though to shoot early on in the year if they got a person and/or group to collaborate on something like the UCM?

I get the vibe, it relates to a certain maze on the Backlot that has been alluded too by @Legacy that could be the reason for halting; as that one IP would be large enough to justify having multiple hands within it to keep things from going as they were.

That read like word salad to me, so I'm not quite sure what you're saying. Poltergeist having an issue? Maybe, I guess. It's possible that's supposed to be the next announcement (it's the last "big get") and they won't announce anything else until it's out there.

Monsters is happening. Filming isn't as open and shut as it should be. They probably only locked down the musician relatively recently, and that musician(s) may be in motion on a tour.

I was referring to Poltergeist. And I apologize if the wording of that post, as that's on my part for that.

I think if anything, Poltergeist could be the one having more problems than say UCM. It's a classic IP; one in which that was produced by two distinct groups and was distributed by a group that has sat on the IP without much use to the Poltergeist IP since the 2015 remake.

Oh no is it having the Scream “reboot vs original” debacle? If it is you’d have thought they’d learned their lesson back in 2015. Unless this is WB trying to back out, either way it seems more complicated than it should be

Warner doesn't own Poltergeist.

MGM, does, though.

They said they owned it during their MSS panel.

...Huh.

I could've sworn MGM though was the ones to release the films when they came out in theaters though.

And yet..as I just checked, WB apparently has the film.

Perhaps someone can clarify that for me.

MGM distributed/produced it and I think sold the rights to WB in 1999...because that's when WB released a DVD version of it?

Hmm..that wouldn't explain the 2015 film though, as that wasn't WB.

WB has the DVD dirstribution rights and those are separate from the maze rights.

When the re-released Poltergeist DVD came out in 1999 Warners distributed it.

The facade work on Poltergeist is still continuing and Legacy said it’s for sure happening in Orlando... I wonder if it’s a case of the rights holders wanting that to be the final announcement vs Blumhouse or another IP holder wanting their maze to be the final one

That would be my guess. MSS seemed like a perfect opportunity to announce a shared IP, but as stated earlier announcements for an IP like Poltergeist have to go through the marketing dept. for Hollywood, Oralndo and any studios involved in the film.

I hope next year they plan their marketing schedule more carefully. Stranger Things & TrT are ticket drivers but IMO they need one more announcement that entices people(I bet barely anyone is coming for The Purge)

I'm trying to remember if Titans of Terror was announced before or after tickets went on sale last year. I know it was announced early in August, due to ScareLA being earlier (compared to this year), but it makes me wonder if they'll squeeze one more maze announcement in before the whole website gets launched and all ticket options go on sale. Based on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter comments, a lot of people are apprehensive about buying tickets before everything is announced, especially after The First Purge announcement, as well as based on last year's less than exciting lineup.
