I've noticed that all of the speculation for La Llorona has it being branded as a Grimm tie-in. I realized this makes sense from a marketing standpoint as there is a relevant episode of the show and it's easy enough to slap the name on for marketing reasons, but is there any meat to this rumor besides speculation? I really hope there isn't. From what I've seen, La Llorona was a strong house in Hollywood's lineup. I can accept the fact that we're getting their leftovers, but I'll be even more primed for disappointment if they turn it into yet another cheap marketing gimmick.

I had heard they were, and I've heard they were not. So at this point it is completely a toss up. I've talked to many people who watch the show, and the consensus is that particular episode is extremely forgettable. So maybe not.

I'm assuming that regardless it'll essentially be what Hollywood has gotten. If the name "Grimm" is attached to the front and it's the same type of house, it won't bother me.

I think it's just a cheap mention of a Universal/NBC property. Doesn't add to anything, doesn't take away, just free publicity.

Kind of how I see it too. I think it'll be more of a blend of what worked in Hollywood and original content. It has a lot of potential.

So somebody got a copy of Evil Dead on blu and posted a picture of an insert that advertised a contest to win a trip to UO or USH to visit the "Evil Dead Maze". Looks legit. Even though we pretty much knew that.

So, there are no ABU's this year, nor stilt actors. Wonder if this means budget cuts..?

What's an ABU?

Also, I don't remember any discernable stilt walkers from the last 2 years, other than the Iniquitous people who were nothing more than photo ops.

Also, more nights than ever, back to 8 houses...it's hard to think budget cuts.

Active backup - They're part-time scareactors who sort of fill in positions when needed. As for stilts, Silent Hill & Gothic (I think) had some last year and Grown Evil had some the year before. I feel like there were some others too that are slipping my mind.

They are completely redoing the ABU program this year. It's now being called "The Collective" and is supposed to be an easier system of filling open parts. However, the fact that it's called The Collective, while they are also bringing back LT, makes things interesting.

 Could be coincidental, could be veeeeery important

I'm guessing that the powers out west wanted the same budget as last year, but to still pull off eight houses. This meant cutting the stilts.

There were stilts in Gothic all throughout the streets last year as the Iniquitus.
The stilts were in Grown Evil and Canyon of Dark Souls in 2011.
Stilts in 2010 included FEAR himself, characters in Escuelto Muerte, some of the creatures in 20 Years of Fear.

And so on. Stilts have been as much of a part of the event as chainsaws have over the years - they're a staple. They'll claim (spin) they didn't have a part for the stilts from a story-perspective, as if they weren't told when designing the zones that they won't get to work with stilts. (After all, the stilts people get paid more $$!)

I'm horrified some of you are trying to frame this as anything but a cut. Sorry, there's no chance in hell this is anything but that. Going back up to 8 houses down from 7 last year isn't an improvement per se, it's putting things back where they're supposed to be for the premium prices we're paying. I refuse to praise them for that neither should anyone here. Adding more nights where they'll easily make more money doesn't have anything to do with the budget - but cutting the hours significantly during the second weekend sure seems like a major cut.
