I think you're onto something here. There have been objectively attractive shirt-less chainsaw actors before -- friend of mine was one in 7 -- and they didn't get sexualized in the same way. Because they were scaring the bejesus out of guests, not posing for photos.

Could it be the pandering to photos, (by Uni allowing them at the event, not specific actors) but be used as a marketing tool, and ultimate the artistic integrity/lore is tossed out to have a more attractive thing to have something to have guest plaster on social media? The original character definitely was more made up to be more freak-ish but they made changes, but also could've been an accommodation with everything going on.

Either way, I hope no one is made uncomfortable at their work, regardless of their character.

Popping in to say that this is a great discussion, and also, on a different note, that I’d agree that between the Mardi Gras thing, the pop-up shop, and last year’s house, they’re testing the waters to see if Monster Fatigue occurs, and if the brand could withstand, say, year-round exposure in the form of an “Epic World”. I would not be surprised by another classic monster house, and consistent classic monster houses until Epic Universe opens.

Wouldn’t it be fun if the last Horror Nights house before EU continued the plot we’ve been observing all the way up to the opening moments of the new E-Ticket?

Hi! I'm new to posting on this forum (and relatively new to Universal and HHN) but I've been reading since it began. It's very off topic for the *current* conversation, but I have a question. Has anyone else noticed that the mask on top of one of the food booths at Mardi Gras is designed to look like Frankenstein's monster, bolts and all? I know they had the bride's house last year, but I just happened to catch a glimpse of that mask in a video I was watching and thought it was kind of odd, considering he has nothing to do with the "planets" theme of this year's Mardi Gras. Is this a common thing that Universal does, or could it be hinting at a Universal Monster house? *EDITED TO ADD PICTURE*View attachment 15885

Hi! Welcome to the conversation! It’s safe to say that there will be a classic monsters house this year just going off the patterns and the popularity of the last two. As for wether or not Frank will be featured I’m not too sure, probably honestly.

You joke, but I think a Mardi Gras themed house would be really dope. Having some Mardi Gras food at the exit would be great too.

Have a giant King Gator at the end like Killer Klownz/Stranger Things. Could work.

I have a hard time remembering every house HHN has ever done, but wasn't the Mardi Gras concept simply a scare zone from 20?

Not an outright MG house but Zombiegeddon's finale tied into Zombie Gras. So as you entered the final rooms of the house, you'd hear the Float "crash" and cause the power failure. You'd walk into the aftermath as you exited the house and into the zone.

Noticed that the Endless Summer hotels have special Mardi Gras food / drink along with Cabana Bay this year.

Might be a sign that Endless Summer could be part of the HHN overlays / experiences that up until now have been Cabana Bay only?

With the new Stranger Things teases, and the announcement that it will be ending with Season 5...does anyone else think they may skip it at HHN this year, and choose to do a mega-house next year (or the year after, depending on when S5 hits)?

The resorts (and resort overall) need some Halloween/Autumn decor, can't really tell there's a major Halloween event happening other than a small sign next to guest relations. I know it's a minor complaint, just odd they don't put some minor decor (obviously nothing with gore).

This is my first, and last, complaint for the lack of traditional Halloween theming throughout the resort ala the Holidays for 2022. I'll be back in 2023 lol

They would do it every year ala Walking Dead if given the opportunity lol

After how badly received the ST2/3 house was, and also because ST4 is releasing in two parts, I'd predict they'd give each season their own individual house. Maybe, maybe not. A mega house definitely could work if they execute it the right way though!

(EDIT: I'm a bit biased since I'm a big fan of the show, but I personally loved the ST2/3 house, specifically the season 3 section. Season 2 just felt a bit rushed. If they do one of those again, I just hope they don't rush scenes.)

According to the post on Instagram, ST4 will have nearly double the amount of runtime of any other season, so that should be plenty of content for 2 houses over 2 years. Plus it would give a major headliner for multiple years.

One more thought on speculation for today...

Toy Fair would've been this weekend, and many companies will be having "virtual Toy Fairs", especially NECA.

This is a good chance to see what companies have been pushing out for their licenses. Keep note of anniversaries, big releases, or just general marketing pushes.

Obviously, just because something is getting a toy, doesn't mean that they'll be getting a house at HHN. BUT! It does mean that the licensers are making deals, and is usually a good thing to keep in the back of your mind during speculation season.

Summarizing the reception of Strangers Things houses in 2019: Some people said it was slightly better than ST1, others said it was much worse. Although, I think everyone agreed that ST2/3 at HHN 29 Orlando was better than ST2/3 at *HHN 2019 HOLLYWOOD*.

I guess we will have to wait and see if Strangers Things returns to HHN someday (especially after the reaction in Hollywood)... although any Stranger Things house would likely draw in the crowds no matter the quality of the house...
