Just got back from it, incredible movie and highly recommend it. That being said, I really don't see it working as a house.

Saw it last night as well and had a blast. I think it can work as a house, but it would be much more contained and probably not as grand as you'd imagine because (light spoilers)
the story begins with its largest set/environment at Orlock's castle and gradually becomes more intimate.
In some ways, Monstrous would probably be a good comparison for a Nosferatu house's overall feel, just swapping Latin America for a winter Germany. I'd say a 10 scene house would look like this (full spoilers):

Scenes 1-2: Orlock's castle (Contract Signing/Sarcophagus chase)
Scene 3: Ship with Orlock and dying crew members
Scene 4: Prison with Orlock servant
Scene 5: Von Franz's diagnosis
Scene 6: Ellen's possession
Scene 7: Orlock eating kids (if Monstrous could get away with it this year...)
Scenes 8-9: Graveyard culminating in fire
Scene 10: Final bedroom encounter

Having just gotten back from seeing Nosferatu, I agree that this amazing film might be a bit tricky to pull off as a house, but believe that the HHN team could find a way to be able to pull it off. Do I think we’ll see it? Not necessarily, but one can dream! If we’ll never see Skarsgard’s Pennywise at the event, it would be great to at least see his Orlock!

I, like many have already mentioned, would also be very intrigued to see how the Smile films could be pulled off as a house. There again, it might be a little trickier to translate than other properties, but sometimes I feel like the tricky ones turn out as the most inventive (ie Poltergeist). Just imagine the last scene being a huge Entity puppet stretching out toward you across a room styled like a concert, ending with a big screen above the exit showing a smiling possessed Skye Riley as one of her songs plays. I think it could work!

Also saw Nosferatu and it is quite a movie! Bill Skarsgard as Orlock was intimidating. You could REALLY feel his voice.

But that’s being said, I feel like this movie is a little too…erm, pretentious for HHN. Good movie, but I just don’t see it as a house. If they really, REALLY wanted to, they could make it work, I just think there are bigger IPs to tackle.

Besides, the esthetic is already similar to what we are used to with the Universal Monsters house. If you’re going to do a Nosferatu house, I would rather just see a Winter’s Night sequel or a Universal Monsters house in the snow.

3. Bring back Bill and Ted

I don't think that bill and Ted could ever come back. there's is no room in for it to return. it's just could be too controversial or have problems with making fun of things. I remember someone saying before that making fun of other studio's movies or shows is just not that possible anymore.

Oooh yeah that looks good. Perfect timing too, just a couple months before September. I liked it the first one never saw the second, but will definitely see this one. A Dead Exposure sequel would probably be better just because they will have free rein and not have to follow a script, but I will take either.

I prefer 28 weeks later than 28 days later
but movies are great but I have a much better time watching 28 weeks later.
it's got more action and a faster pace. it almost felt like a proper adaptation of the resident evil 2 game in some parts.
I think you should check it out.
( some people will complain about plot holes in it but I think the movie is really good in the zombie horror aspect)

As I said, I don’t think they’ll double up zombies, but if it weren’t for that Return of the Living Dead might be an interesting possibility

It’s an 80s semi-cult classic with a humorous tinge and a recognizable signature monster that can be slapped on merch without securing the rights to an actor’s likeness. The film would seem to be right in creative’s wheelhouse and it’s having an anniversary (which doesn’t REALLY matter) and releasing a new film (which might)… I sure wouldn’t bet on it if TLoU is headlining, but it’s a bit surprising it hasn’t shown up at the event before now.

PS: I believe the rights are a mess, but otherwise I’d think a full Army of Darkness house would make sense and move merch.

return of the living dead would actually make an amazing, really incredible scarezone in the new York area. it could even have dancing. an ambulance, punk zombies, paramedic zombies,
it would be incredible.

I heard so many people in line hoping for Terrifier coming this year. Damien Leone has also expressed interest to my recollection. I know around Terrifier 2 he reached out to certain people, like the Dead by Daylight developers about getting Art out in the wild. Now the tables have turned and with Terrifier being as big as it is.

LOVE Return of the Living Dead and it's in a spot where it's sort of a mainstream cult classic like Reanimator where if you have any interest in the genre you've probably seen it but it's not a household name. Would be an amazing addition imo but I doubt it's in an area where it's something to be really pursued as it wouldn't be a draw and zombies with punk/surf rock could be an original without IP hassle

My largest hesitation with Evil Dead/Army of Darkness is Bruce Campbell is what primarily makes it work. The Ash Vs Evil Dead house didn't deliver because at the end of the day, Ash lookalikes just aren't ash

not only was the problem that the ash lookalikes aren't ash, but the voiceover was pretty bad. and most of the time the ash lookalikes were missing... I remember a lot of empty spaces.

I think if Terrifier comes it will bring in some pretty big crowds because those films are already hugely popular among hardcore horror fans plus there’s some notable attention coming from the GP. I thought I was against it at first but I quickly realized it was my personal distaste for IP slasher houses. I hope that if it does end up coming we get a wide and diverse array of scenes, scares and characters. (I haven’t seen any of the films so I’m not sure how much material there is)

The only hope I have is that it’s not in a soundstage. I am a firm believer that we should have some more originals in soundstages for some really jaw dropping scenes that aren’t at the cost of the duration of the house (ex: Goblin’s Feast had some incredible scenes but felt very quick)

Tbh I think Terrifier would be plenty adequate going into the Supercharged queue. It doesn’t seem like the kind of IP that requires some really big sets; just some smaller scenes that depict the iconic scenes and kills.

Just some back up to the Terrifer = Huge Crowds argument.

Horrorhound Weekend announced the whole Terrifier 3 group, and they sold out of weekend VIP passes earlier than I've seen in the past. There are a few other big guests announced (Ti West, Corey Taylor, Spencer Charnas), but it's pretty much just the T3 cast as headliners so far.

Agree. I just watched the movie (loved it btw!) and while I initially thought that it would be a shoe-in especially how they were marketing it by playing the trailer at HHN this past year at the event and making it feel like a tease/hint to next year (projected on one of the buildings in the RRR queue) I do think it's a little too "artsy" for HHN and there aren't enough jump scare moments in it to really translate into effective scares for it in HHN. Beautiful film everyone should see if they are into art house horror but not exactly Horror Nights house material.

Nosferatu is a fantastic movie but I do not see it coming to HHN.

Something I would love to see at the event though - another vampire original ala Hive.

I commented above my re-assessed reasons why I don't think Nosferatu will come to HHN this year after watching the film.

But...to address Smile...I actually think it actually would be really easy to translate into a house. While I agree and understand that the movie is "more" than just the creepy smiling faces, let's be honest, to make it work in a haunted house environment...that is ultimately all you'd need. They just need to hire scare-actors who can pull off very creepy smiling/dead stare faces and I don't think that's that tall of an order.

A final scene with the smile demon in one of those endless mirror rooms where its giant smile was all around you would be pretty epic.

Yeah those were definitely not realistic expectations. I do think it feels a little strange that so many have speculated that the ghost symbol represents Beetlejuice 2: Electric Beetleoo though. My first instinct was that there's no way HHN would stick that property in a tent and not a full building.

Then again, in early speculation maps last year, I recall that A Quiet Place may have been originally projected in the same location but changed over time.

Terrifier may be the house I'm most excited for if all of the rumors corresponding with the spec map pan out. Not even a fan of the franchise, and I don't see the first film translating well to a house treatment. BUT, the 2nd and 3rd films added so much to the franchise that I see potential if scenes are pulled from those as well.

Wondering will we ever see a house return to where the second shrek theater was? I thought I read somewhere that this space was left available after the minions take over for this reason.

There is space left, yes. A decent amount too.

I imagine they'll use it if they lose a location or, God forbid, they increase the house count.
