Ideally, they just build 2 additional new tents next to the new ones from last year and build a larger access path next to the MIB bathrooms. Put the house portals in a plaza-like entry like last year's two new tents.

HHN really needs to work on spreading crowds out evenly through the park.

This is probably nothing but is there any reason to believe the new tents could fit two houses? They'd be claustrophobic as anything, but it could be a way to balance out the crowds.

Are the new ones they built large enough to hold 2 houses?

EDIT - LOL I just realized my count was off and we already have a permit for SS 22 (Poppy). Regardless, take the two images and combine them and you can see a possible solution.

So… I know people are trying to figure out where the 12th house will be, and I like the ideas I’m seeing.

But my gut tells me, it’s going to be a soundstage. And while that feels… insane… considering what it could mean for queues, I have been told they have a plan. That plan requires creative thinking for the houses and queues. For houses, I think it means traditional entrances and exits from the soundstages may change. There are MULTIPLE doors to each. Nothing says the doors we’ve always entered have to be the same this year.

And, well, I think I figured out a couple of solutions for queues.

The first queue solution is something we’ve seen before—a soundstage queue. Now, I’m trying to remember the specifics of this in the past, but I’m certain they queued TWO houses in one soundstage (I’m pretty sure that was in soundstage 21). So… that saves a lot of queue space.

The SECOND idea is something new… and that is actually queuing for a soundstage house inside its own soundstage. It’s based what they did for Screamhouse in 2002, which saw a full switchback in front of the house facade. Now, if a house in a larger soundstage (like 25, which can fit two houses) is oriented with the facade to the middle of the soundstage, you can actually put several switchback inside the soundstage AND in front of the facade (similar to Sprung 2, but inside). NOW, we’re saving space.

The next issue is house portals. We know we have houses in 23, 24, and 25. Traditionally, 22 or 21 would be used. BUT, there are a couple of soundstages that have been used in the past that open up some options: 19 and 20.

Now, one of those has been by creative the last few years for attraction research testing (like Mario Kart), but I don’t recall which. But, I believe that capability is moving (or has moved) to the South Campus (Epic). Why? Because both of those soundstages are listed as available for rent on the Production website (maybe they always were, but I’m rolling with this theory). Why does that matter? Because if Universal uses soundstage 19, there can be a house portal at Minion Mayhem.

This is just a mock up, but you can you can see where there is still space for more queue as necessary. This also leaves portions of the breezeway open for the casts.

BUT even if 19 or 20 isn’t available and they go with 22 (ol’ reliable) using the soundstages for queues fixes a lot of potential problems that may not actually exist.

Just food for thought.

How much does HRRR's closure affect this? This plan might work except it uses most of HRRR's footprint and if they start deconstruction immediately after closure at least one or two of these would be affected, no?

On second thought it might work if they start work on the station and go towards the front of the park first from Sept-Oct, and as soon as HHN closes start on the rest of the coaster.

I’m not sure the walkway for the new tents is big enough to support 2 new tents/crowds

I’m not entirely sure they can fit 2

HRRR closing can be a benefit, because it doesn’t have to be open during hhn. They can use the queue for a house and can start demoing parts of the ride and waiting till after hhn to go full bore.

I thought it was mentioned that the new tents can hold more than 1 house, but I could be wrong.

If the 12th is in fact a tent, I think the 2 spots that make the most sense are the space behind Dreamworks, or the open space between the current tents and the parade building.

Is the old parade building still being used? Or can all the floats fits in the current one?

They should turn the old BMG courtyard into a house hub location like last year behind MIB.

They could also do a tent at La Bamba I think they wanted to do that a different year

I've always thought it would be a great idea to use that courtyard area, but I'd be curious how that would work with the hotel guest entrance.

Let me ask a novice question, when discussing Soundstage vs. Tent houses, what are the biggest differences?

tents have more limited space, in terms of ceiling and width. soundstages can have more big sets becuase of how tall they are

It all is based on what A&D is aiming for, too. Tents can give houses a claustrophobic feeling while the atmosphere can be better controlled in stages.

EDIT TO ADD: Though it does seem the two new tents do a better job of closely blending what they are capable of.

For easy reference I'm pulling this tweet from last year's construction thread:

How likely is it they'd build another tent? I think that would depend on whether or not they go for 12 houses as the new minimum or if it's something they're only doing for this year. At the same time it might be a bit much having 6 houses in one corner of the park now that I think about it.

Looking again at the picture now they might squeeze in 2 (they new tents look roughly 1.5x bigger than the old ones) but it would probably make a lesser experience for both.

Gosh, can't they just come out and tell us?

because that would ruin the fun. it seems more likely than not that they build a new tent, seems like temp may be the best course of action if we are getting 12
