I actually had a chat with them a few days ago… specifically about how anxious fans are for the next map. There is “enough” for a map right now, but they aren’t solid enough on any of it to feel comfortable publishing one. It’s the same reason I’ve slowed down on my clues. Orlando is locked down pretty tight (unless you’re someone who is more credulous about rumors than us cynical old-timers). Hollywood has more stuff floating around, but that doesn’t necessarily apply to the East Coast.

Clown Cafe from Terrifier, and...and...okay, I'll stop.

On Legacy's post, I appreciate that they do not want to publish a spec map unless they feel it is fairly legit, but we are all getting a bit crazy for one :)

Even if HNN doesn't have any updates or anything, they have a civic duty to issue a new spec map to get this forum out of crazy topics being discussed. Just a new map with different clipart all over the place to change the course of discussion. And, what the hell, throw in 11 or 12 of them to get people all riled up :)

Hallowed Out Horror put one out last month. I know they don’t have the track record that HNN does, but definitely interesting concepts if some of them do turn out to be true.

Just some quick announcement spec (I like to think I've been pretty good with predicting the announcement schedule these past few years):

March 19th or March 26th - First IP announcement for Orlando and Hollywood, single-night tickets
April 19th (WrestleMania) - WWE/Wyatt Sicks announced
June 16th-June 20th - Week of originals dumped
June 25th - Premium Scream, IP announcement (M3GAN?), 11 houses(?)
July 16th/17th - Another IP announcement
July 23rd - This one's a gamble, but if it's coming: FNaF announced (10-year anniversary of FNaF 4)
July 28th-August 1st: Zones & show(s), and if 11 houses, 6th original/IP announced, multi-night passes go on sale

I don't remember how it looked on the announcement spreadsheet - but is June 25th late for single night tickets? Maybe I'm crazy lol

Double-checking and yep you're right lol, single-nights I'll move up. Heck, they went on sale April 4th last year, so we might actually be 1-2 weeks away from them going on sale!

I know this is spec for 34, but I can't pass up commenting on some of the other discussion here - especially regarding Insidious. This is absolute proof that the houses at HHN being great or not is very, very subjective. One would think - well, of course, it's subjective. However, if you consistently read these forums, that's not necessarily true.

To be fair, there are sometimes overwhelming majority opinions that show it's possibe to have a real, legit banger of a house, or a giant turd of a house (i.e. everyone, I think, LOVED Wicked Growth, but loathed the last Chucky house). That being said, most of the houses don't get such majority opinions of that level. As we know, people's rankings for houses could even change within the same season!

I mentioned somewhere here before that I thought Insidious was incredible. Again, PERSONAL opinion. I, too, am one of those who does not get scared. I'm too old, I've been to way too many haunts (including 19 years of HHN) for me to be "scared". I am always thrilled and impressed when some especially hyped scareactor can get me to jump (or utter a string of words I'm not allowed to post here). That being said, there was something about Insidious last year that got into my head. It is one of the only times I can remember actually feeling anxious before, during and after walking through. It was the perfect combination of a very aggressive cast, the extremely creepy music/sounds and the way they hid the actors for more unpredictability on when/where they'd actually pop out at you. My wife and friends also loved the house, but they really made fun of me for my visceral reaction to it. I can't even explain it to you. It just is. So, yeah, this house may be "overrated" to some, but for me, it was mind blowing. On the flip side, I thought Blood Moon was boring. I thought Exorcist was garbage. Would I purposely write a scathing review of those houses? No. Clearly many of you loved them, so good for you! Again, subjective.

For the cynical out there, or for those who think they are unscareable (I know, made up word): I recommend trying to embrace the event with an open mind and see the houses through the vision of its creators. Learn to let yourself be immersed, and you might be surprised what could happen. It's such grand fun, and it's why I still attend religiously year after year.

Lastly, I must say I did chuckle a bit at some of the "top 5" lists here.. especially when the lists are from people attending 7 years or less. No, that's not being an HHN snob. It is simply a completely different perspective. Actually, I have some pity on those so young that you've already missed some of the GOATS from years ago, i.e. Cabin in the Woods, Nightingales: Blood Prey, American Horror Story (all of them), Body Collectors, Halloween (2014), Jack Presents 25 Years, The In-Between, Gothic, the Wolfman and Winter's Night. These are all high on my all time greats list (I purposely didn't include more recents like Scarecrow, Wicked Growth, Tomb of the Ancients, etc because I'm trying to illustrate what a rich history there is here and how fortunate some of us are to have seen so much of it). It will be interesting to see how these GOAT lists evolve over the next decade of horror. What fun we will all have!

one thing you made me realize is that no matter how good a house is, if the person hates the property, then that person could dislike the house, it depends of course, but I remember cases where a really good house was disliked by someone just because they just didn't like the property.
i remember, that.

Exorcist Believer was a masterpiece idc. Imo I think that house was even better than Insidious. Both are great, but Exorcist Believer for me was more consistent even if at times Insidious was slightly more scary. That house (Exorcist Believer) always made me anxious. It was so loud and messed up lol

exorcist believer had a really disgusting feeling too besides being scary. the walls or the smells or something. it wasn't just scary, but it made you feel so uncomfortable.
and those demon masks were really scary. I really had trouble looking at them. I ended up looking at the floor to avoid them. those demons really bothered me.
really shocking house. a shock to the senses.
terrifier will probably have disgusting parts too.

Was just a joke about how we needed SOMETHING to talk about as conversation here had devolved into the pros and cons of rating events you hadn't attended.

Can only speak for myself, I strongly disliked House of 1000 Corpses when I watched it for 29 prep, but that was one of my favorite houses that year. So it can happen but it’s not always the case. I will say I never went into it with a predetermined notion that I wasn’t going to like the house because I wasn’t a fan of the movies. Both cases will most likely exist for any IP house.

Exorcist Believer definitely had bits throughout the house where I was genuinely uncomfortable and I wanted out. There was one spot where the AC was really blowing every time in one of those uncomfortable bits and I was always on edge. Ho1C from Dr. Satan through the end made me really uncomfortable too, I would walk through the end of that house more than I care to admit lol.

2 houses that come to my memory were dead silence in 2007 and doomsday in 2008. those houses were pretty good, i really liked them.

but I remember when some people were saying that the houses and the movies weren't that good.
if you asked why, they used to say that the movies were terrible and then house was bad just like the movie. I remember because I remember thinking " but these houses were really good on their own "
and even the walking dead fits into this a little bit.
