These AI generated promos are so cringe and my only hope is that they're taking that marketing budget and pushing it at the event

Yeah, I get not shoveling a bunch of money at announcement videos (especially when a few last year... didn't turn out great), but these LLM outputs ain't it.

I don't think they're AI generated. That's a bit mean. They're not great but just because they're not that good doesn't mean it's ai

I mean, they either built the funkiest and ugliest looking CGI bedroom of all time with highly generic visuals on the TV screen with bizarre lighting quirks (watch the shadows), or... it's an LLM. Occam's razor says...

It doesn't strike me as AI on close inspection - it looks like a very cheap CG render somebody slapped together in an afternoon in Blender. Frankly, the new Veo3 release would probably be able to make something that looks a lot better than this overall. But at the same time there are aspects like the old graphics assets on the wall (HHN32 poster) that it would be impossible for a genAI program to render with fidelity in a single-shot video generation, and that it would be a pain in the ass to paste in after the fact over a generated video, but that would be exceedingly easy to toss in there in a Blender environment.

I'm not gonna lie, they look cheap but I kinda like the announcements.

They work well with this year's quote of "Live the Horror You Love to Watch"

Counterpoint - raise your hands if this shoddy video made you change your plans or decision to go/not to to HHN this year.

I’d rather they spent $$$ on the houses and zones and on improving ops.

Just because it’s bad doesn’t mean it’s AI! Like holly hell people, accusing folks of using AI is serious!

The event makes enough money, alcohol (and food) alone to justify better marketing. Let's not pretend the money couldn't be used to improve everything..

In total fairness, Universal has already been caught red handed using AI on both coasts, including for marketing imagery (see the key art for Hollywood's Dead Exposure house last year).

I feel if we're going to make that call we should have more than a hunch. Lots of folks are being accused of using AI when they don't. (I swear if I heard one more person talk about the em dash only being used by AI...)

That's fair, and I'm willing to concede we may have jumped the gun here. That doesn't change the fact that 1) Universal has shown a willingness to use AI for marketing and in-park materials, as seen last year in Hollywood and Orlando, and 2) these promos look bad and could be mistaken for AI generations, which is not great!

I'm much more scared about the way Jason is gonna look. that new mask looks funky. doesn't look great.
I'm happy about Jason, but I hope the new look is good in person.

it can definitely be a mixture of both, it definitely has aspects that look like ai.
it could be ai quickly touched up by an artist, I've seen that done before.

With next year being an anniversary year, I could see them sprinkling some things through the tribute store this year

The videos are cool - I actually really dig the aesthetic they're going for. They're way better than the teasers they used to post with the weird recorded random guests screaming in the last 10 seconds from previous years. The Jason shirt also rocks.

You guys know they're not going to dump money into a 30 second film that you're going to watch once and then never again right?
