BTW this is my annual admonition that they should really figure out a Death Becomes Her presence at HHN at some point, even if it's just a bar.

Probably an unpopular opinion but despite it being an “anniversary” year, I don’t want sequels or reincarnations of previous houses. Give me all the new content and some previously unused IPs. Still would love to see Universal get their hands on IT and the Conjuring Universe.

An IP line up of IT, Conjuring, Hellraiser, and Stranger Things would be great just sayin.

I don’t think it’s unpopular. I think doing an “anniversary” year every five years ruins the magic of an anniversary. Zero anniversaries? Absolutely. A 25th? Yeah. I get it. But they didn’t do a big anniversary thing for 15… and 35 feels like that sort of whatever number.

40th and 50th are the next anniversary years imo.

I'd argue the coast that is likely going to benefit the "Anniversary Year" element more properly, is Hollywood, more than Orlando @Hatetofly @Legacy; considering we will be hitting the 20 year mark for when we kickstarted things again.

(Also great to see you lurking around again, HTF~)

I think both will benefit nicely, Besides Hollywood will Get Hollywood Harry again.

Hollywood Harry

Hollywood Harry is the nickname given to former actor, clown, and circus performer Harold Kappowitz also known as Koodles the Clown. After being kicked out of Universal Studios due to a decrease in the popularity and an increase in the fear of clowns, Kappowitz retreated into the Hollywood Hills...

In a similar vein to some of my comments towards the end of the last speculation period, it is both remarkable and a bit sad that it's barely been a day and this thread already has more pages than a number of the HHN34 houses and zone discussions got across their entire run. For all the energy this site spends predicting what comes next, actually speaking on each offering once they arrive seems to be far lower on the priority list. A shame for an event so rich in its' design and attention to detail. :broken_heart:

Like @Jake S said - I can appreciate the sentiment here and agree to a point, but I think comparing the two is really difficult.

One thread is up for 9 months, and covers speculation/predictions for the ENTIRE event - all 10 houses, all zones, food, shows, ops issues, tickets, etc.

I can speak at least for myself here, but I avoid try to avoid house/zone threads once the event begins because, quite frankly, I don't want to get spoiled lol. And again like Jake said, I do 2 nights of HHN in early-mid September and then I'm gone. I have absolutely nothing to contribute beyond my thoughts after doing the house/zone. We also have a review thread, so what is there really to discuss in each individual thread beyond a bit more detailed reviews, and potential changes in the house/zone throughout the year?

And just like I don't want to get spoiled, I'm sure a lot of people on here don't even attend until late October. So they REALLY have to avoid the house/zone threads!

I agree with this, mostly I avoid spoilers too. But it’s kinda of hard because you know TikTok, and other stuff.

Anyway I’m glad I wasn’t very spoiled since I went in late September.

The designs were so beautiful, and very eye catching to the public eye.

I avoid spoilers as well as I can. Part of why I go opening night now lol. PSN and TM preview is the only nights I have to avoid spoilers. But even with that I rarely post in house threads besides after night 1 when I post a review. Anything else I post in the review thread to cover the whole event.

Or if it’s before the event leading up to PSN and TM preview I’ll post in the house threads but that’s still rare.

Yeah, to echo what's already been said - i only get 1 night at the event every year. Sometimes i get to do both coasts, but it's still only ever 1 night on each end.

I don't tend to review or discuss outside of spec because i don't really care about what other people review or discuss outside of spec; simple as that. Everyone is going to look at this event through different lenses and judge closer to their personal interests and i don't need to see people saying "terrifier bad" or "fnaf for babies" to know that a large majority of what people say in those threads simply don't interest me. I'll follow constructions and rumors and hypetrains but that's about it. Once i go, i care even less about what other people thought because i've already experienced it and made my own calls. I get my one go at each house and that's it. To the people who get to do 45 runs of each house, i'm jealous, but uninterested in hearing what they have to say every week about the differences as the event goes on because i'm done. I got off the train. I'm back home and moving onto next year.

I spec. I hype. I go. I'm done. Not much of a cyclical feedback loop until spec starts back up for next year.

That being said, unlike @Kichkinet85 , @Blysthon , and codeman...
i freakin' love spoilers, so i watch everything like a hawk up until the minute i go :)

I just wish we showed these attractions an inch of the attention we give them when they're just whispers between TM's and Discord users. There's just so much there, and frankly, I believe it's all way more interesting to talk about once it's actually open and built and running than as a hypothetical potential for 10 months straight.

I said it last year, and I stand by it. I posted my initial thoughts and expectations for 35 today, but I don't actually want to know anything about the event until midway through August of next year. If I could feasibly make that happen, I would. It'd be so much more interesting and exciting for me to have an actual surprise reveal for Ozzy or Hazbin than for it to be an open secret for 2/3rd's of a year beforehand.

But that's just me, and clearly, I am not representative of the thread at large. People love it and that's totally fine. I can still think it's a shame when the Hazbin thread gets like 5 pages total though.

Agree with everything - I'm stepping away until we get closer to the event. Really bummed there wasn't a lot of discussion of the actual event once it was in swing.

My favorite thing about the event now, and has been every year, is how my expectations never align with the actual results. My favorite house is always something unexpected, and I love hearing about the things people love in each house and what makes them special to the individual. I LOVED the WWE house this year and I would have loved to hear more from wrestling fans about their thoughts and the details I have no understanding of.

When Terrifier was announced my #1 "I wish they would, but know they won't" was including Ice Nine Kill's A Work of Art. Lo and behold, they had it blastin'.

My bottom property to adapt from Slaughter Sinema 2 was Hatchet and Chains and it was an absolute banger.

Also suprised to see there wasn't any discussion on how well characters were adapted to have presence in houses and the event even if they weren't there visibly.
-The girl from Dolls showing up at her house the end of the night.
-Hatchet and Chains only showing up a handful of times in the house but with sound and design it felt like you were right behind or along side them.
-Mr. The Artist carving Freddy Fazbear

I'm still not done talking with people about this year - I actually just stopped by to point out how similar Grave of Flesh's deep afterlife looked a LOT like the Labyrinth from 2Hell2Raiser. I've always thought that was the most important, and yet hardest implement thing from the franchise. Turns out people are already speculating/rumoring its coming to the event? Fingers crossed!

hellraiser-labyrinth.jpg

Last thought of the season - It would take some sort of legal wizard (I'm assuming) but I think a cool move for a character like Art would be to have unexpected house cameos. A 'blink and you miss it, what are they even doing here?!?!' moment that could happen at random would create some really cool, unique experiences for guests.

Tl;dr- Happy Thanksgiving!

This is really all it comes down to. It's a lot different for locals vs non-locals.

Locals can get on here and say:
"I went through El Artista 8 times last night and I can confirm that Cast B is way more aggressive!"
"Just had my 10th run through of Hatchet and Chain and they've added 2 more effects in the 4th room!"

I was at Universal from 9/13 to 9/19 this year - so for me, effectively, HHN was over on 9/20. I simply have nothing to contribute for an event that's still going for a month and a half after I've left lol

A big chunk of it is due to people thinking they have to "prove their fandom".

You can go through a house once, or 100 times. It doesn't mean you're a bigger fan than the other. Enjoy the event at your own pace.

Absolutely! These were just my thoughts on why the threads aren't as popular during the event itself.

Really the only ones with anything meaningful to contribute consistently would be locals!

IDK what kinda juice they can squeeze out of that for a house. It would just be Werecats "but inside" now.

I read here very consistently, but I don't make a TON of comments on any thread. However, most of my comments would be in spec. Why? Because I'm of the same mind as CodeMan in that I don't want spoilers. I want to see it all for myself the first time. Also, we travel multiple times for the event, so Sept and Oct become really hectic for us trying to balance travel and work. I'll only take time to post about a house/zone or whatever if something really great or funny or scary happened. I simply don't have the extra time to put all my thoughts down for every house. Plus, I suspect, most of you probably don't care. LOL! I do read all the threads though when I can, and if something connects, I'll comment. It's not for lack of appreciation on the amazing work done each year - it's really just a time issue for me. I can't be the only one..
