They finally did FNAF, which was the first HHN house based on a viral game covered by Youtubers. Now that they finally did it, it's time to take on the next Youtube viral game for HHN!

Speaking only for myself, I really find it tough to get into the nitty gritty of house reviews for a bunch of houses I've only done one time. That's enough for me to have broad impressions (is it good, is it bad, what worked, what didn't) but not really much more granular than that. But definitely agree with the sentiment. I used to take notes after the houses [when I was paid to write about them] and it's great to ... not have to do that anymore. But I'd like to participate more in those discussions than I typically do.

This is really all it comes down to. It's a lot different for locals vs non-locals.

Locals can get on here and say:
"I went through El Artista 8 times last night and I can confirm that Cast B is way more aggressive!"
"Just had my 10th run through of Hatchet and Chain and they've added 2 more effects in the 4th room!"

I was at Universal from 9/13 to 9/19 this year - so for me, effectively, HHN was over on 9/20. I simply have nothing to contribute for an event that's still going for a month and a half after I've left lol

These are completely valid takes. This past year myself, I honestly didn't have solid thoughts on the event until my 3rd or 4th night going, and because of it, I didn't really post any. I believe any theme park attraction can take some time to actually sink in, especially one as dense as an HHN haunt, and especially when you're experiencing 10 back-to-back-to-back. I still haven't posted everything about my Epic trips, and I also won't look in the House or Zone threads until I experience them for myself, as I'm also really sensitive to spoilers. I completely get this, and it's not what I'm really talking about.

Just to be totally clear; I don't want to come off as whatever the HHN niche hyperfan equivalent of "holier than thou" would be, or imply that any specific poster here has a duty to contribute to 28 pages of deep and thoughtful discussion on Masquerade: Dance with Death. Posting what I did before, I knew that would be a risk, but I do hope that's not the takeaway.

There is just such an outsized difference between the energy of the Spec threads to the confirmed ones. To an exponential level. A spec thread will have 300+ pages across 10 months; close to the same amount the Epic spec thread got across 6 years, and then the Zone of the Year winner Cat Lady of Crooked Lane won't have a single post from July to November.

I totally understand why the difference in energy is there, and it's totally fine to not enjoy reading about these attractions as much once they're open, but that's the energy difference that I'm talking about. There is such a big HHN community here, and there are a number of locals and people that go very consistently that post here too. I'm not expecting Spec thread-level page counts, but I would hope for more discussion than literally nothing for months.

With the possibility of Nightmare Fuel not coming back, I think it’s fun to speculate what a new show could look like.

I noticed it, too - but not because people are avoiding spoilers (because that's totally understandable). There's definitely a subsection that is all about the rumor discussion, and that's it. I'm not sure if it was this year, but posters have said, "OK, Spec season is over. Nothing else to talk about." That's where I think your point applies best.

The mental image of the broom being a jump scare in a haunted house has me in laughing so hard right now

The sock puppet would be a funny thing to experience too. Honestly, I am not against this being a house now lol

For me at least, I think commenting and being on the message boards during speculation season is a really exciting part of the buildup to HHN season, and it makes it feel like there is a part of the event year round, which is really fun, because you can share excitement with other fans. Once the season begins, my focus turns towards enjoying the trips to attend, watching videos about the event, and talking about HHN live with friends and family. I do think those of us who mostly comment during spec season could be better contributors to the community by discussing during the event, and I'd like to do more of that next year, but I think it is a logical distinction - i.e., the event is the payoff that you can experience, and then return to talk and speculate once that is no longer an option!

IDK what kinda juice they can squeeze out of that for a house. It would just be Werecats "but inside" now.

Agreed, now there's no doubt that Cat Lady of Crooked Lane was a fantastic zone, but I feel they honestly got its milage from being a zone with a mini show -and- a mini outdoor house, and that's perfectly fine! I don't need to clamor for a house when the zone did its job to a T.

I don't know why y'all are paying more to see haunted houses when you can just ride cat in the hat and get just as many nightmares

I would love to see if they will make a original monsters house now they have seen how successful dark universe was
