So no flavor town… I mean, yeah that is definitely not a good thing to eat human meat!

Does anybody know if Universal has ever considered doing a top five or any other number house of the past decade? Would be economical and I think be a draw. I’d love to take another walk through original Slaughter Sinema, Seeds of extinction or Dead man’s Pier (which I missed).

How do you mean? As in a house with several scenes from a past house? Or literally bringing back a house as is?

Either way, bringing any kind of scene or house back "as is" doesn't quite land the way one think it might. (I can think of a lone exception which was Attack of the Swamp Yeti's scene showing up at the end of Yeti: Terror of the Yukon, but even then, that had a few tweaks.)

If you've already experienced the house being referenced, there's nothing new. It's just a "Hey, remember this?" because you're not going to capture the house with just a scene or two. (Especially Dead Man's Pier where traversing through its unique set was an essential part of the experience.)
I feel that A&D prefers playing around with returning themes/scenes so there's a freshness to it all.

Also, AWIL returning in 25 is probably a crystal-clear example that yes, you can bring back a house...but it's NOT going to hit the same, and that can make folks feel like that house slot was wasted on a repeat.

I think, honestly, the only way to really do this in a way that works is to bring back only one “legacy” house at a time, and on a notable anniversary of the house itself. And even that anniversary needs to be 15 or more years. For example, next year is the 25th (calendar) anniversary of Screamhouse. Bringing that house back would be unique because, even if someone went through it, it’s been so long any changes or updates made to the “mechanics” of it wouldn’t make a huge difference to the experience. The age also emphasizes that it’s NOT the same cast or experience. It’s essentially a re-master.

The risk you run into with bringing any house back is actually the house’s location. Unless it’s getting put in the same spot as before (and if it’s sharing a soundstage, assuming the other house in that location fits the shape), the house HAS to get resigned for it. But, again, the “legacy re-master” explanation implies that it’s not exactly the same.

Ultimately, though, I don’t think the risk is worth the reward. Nostalgia is always more appealing than reality, and lightning will almost never strike twice.

How do we think the new express now passes will affect house wait times, and will it change the way you personally do the event?
