A slightly different thought came to my mind as we go forward in the MCU…. Anyone think it’s inevitable that we get Mockingbird soon?

And it laid all the groundwork for what should be a great last two episodes, although I’m especially looking forward to next weeks.

Another thought…

I hope that Yelena doesn’t take away from the show. We know there’s a good reason why she’s here, but I do feel like Hawkeye has thrived in being rather disconnected (or as disconnected as you can be) from the MCU at-large. I hope that storyline doesn’t feel forced is what I’m trying to say I guess.

It's obvious we're gearing up towards him making peace with Natasha's death. I don't mind the connections to the at-large if that's what that means.

To me, it seems like it's going to parallel Natasha and Clint's relationship, wherein he was sent to assassinate her but instead offered clemency. It looks like Yelena will do the same for Clint, giving him some peace over Natasha's death. I also think she might get him to join Val's strike force as a way to atone for his time as Ronin.

Looks like I got my wish after all. Oh hai Yelena.

I suspected that Laura and Clint may be going towards a divorce at the series end; but she seems pretty chipper. I think the kids are gonna have some serious daddy issues though.

Clint telling Kate that he needs to do it alone and that they’re not partners is stupid. I can’t put my name on this trope (I swear there’s a trope here); but it’s a given that they’re going to get back together again so it’s kinda redundant.

He's doing it because the situation just got a lot more serious with Black Widow's arrival - and after the parent-to-parent convo he just had with her mom, he understands her safety is a lot more of an issue now than ever before. Yes, we all know they're getting back together - but it's an organic story progression instead of just conflict for the sake of conflict. It's been teased throughout the series that she's not grasping that being a hero comes with a lot of downfalls.

The point of that was to show how much he has grown to care for her. After her mom said to please leave Kate out of it and brought up Natasha’s death, it seems to have really triggered him.

Also, there’s a lot of parallels between Natasha saying “Let me go” and Kate saying “Pull me up”. He holds on to Natasha until she got away from him and because of this, he lets go of Kate even though she wanted to continue fighting because he cares about her too much to lose her, especially so shortly after losing Nat.

Obviously Kate is going to defy his wishes, but I also think it served to show that not only are they becoming good friends, but it’s delving more into where his brain is in dealing with the loss of Nat and showed he didn’t want to lose someone else.

We also didn't see Clint seeing who was behind that mask. For all he knows, it's a random member of the Black Widow program. But what will happen once he finds out that it is Natasha's sister. What would he do in that situation? It's a question that could honestly make a lot of sense to further make him lose his grip and lose in a solo fight proper against the two (outside of the 2v1v1 that occured).

Just my two cents on how things could shake out.

One of the things that did bother me with Episode 4 was that Clint made a lot of reference to "The shot he didn't take" (referring to when he was sent to kill Black Widow, but ultimately recruited her) and him being used as a weapon by SHIELD. Unfortunately, we've never seen any of this outside of a bit of him being used as a weapon in 2011's Thor. It really makes me wish Clint would've been in Black Widow for a flashback scene or Scarlett in Hawkeye for a flashback, but if that happens, i'd be extremely surprised as there's been absolutely no rumblings on it happening.

Would he have noticed her anyway? Yelena was very young during the Budapest mission.

I'd be surprised if he didn't knew of Yelena in one way or another. Especially given the amount of time he worked with Natasha. The amount of time he was in her life. It feels like one of those things they'd actually talk about. I do agree that they should've had Barton in BW, it was probably the biggest issue I had with it; but I do think there is precedence to this. Especially if she uses it as a tactic to throw Clint off.

I'm not saying he doesn't know of Yelena, but the Budapest Operation with Clint and Nat, as far as I can tell, was around 2008. That would have made Yelena a young 10 year old or so (not quite sure of her age in the MCU). So he may know of Yelena, but I don't think he would recognize her.

Might want to check the timeline a bit about. As I believe Yelena was born in the late 80's, not the late 90's. Because by the time of Budapest, she would've been around 20 years and not necessarily 10.

Black Widow's cold open did take place in 1995 afterall. Assuming she didn't get snapped, odds are she would likely be in her 30's come Hawkeye.

There’s no way she’s 30. You don’t cast Florence Pugh to play a 30 year old.

The Marvel Wiki puts Yelena's year of birth at 1988/89, so if this show is set in 2023/24, she's definitely in her 30s.

If she got Snapped (have we heard whether or not she did?), obviously that could shave five years off, but physically she'd still be around 30.

Depends if she blipped though is the question. Because then she would have come back the same age she blipped at.

Either way Florence Pugh is 25 and looks younger, so it’s just a bit of an odd character choice to supposedly make her 30+ even if she didn’t blip.

She still feels plausibly older than Steinfeld (despite being only a year or two older), and I think that's enough to sell her as a much more seasoned and "adult" presence.

In any case, while Clint may know about her from conversations with Nat, I don't think he'd need to recognize her, regardless of age.

True, I think the fact that a Black Widow is coming after him plus her being highly trained in combat much like her sister might be enough to deduce that it's Yelena and not some random Black Widow.

Is it possible that Clint’s wife is a former SHIELD Agent or even formerly part of the widow project? She seems to be hiding something. I actually think the Rolex may have been hers and Laura was Mockingbird. Funny that this comes up since I mentioned Mockingbird just the other day.
