I don't think a Texas Chainsaw Massacre works with name actors... but also... give this franchise a rest...

I'm also very uninterested in seeing a Chainsaw movie directed by the Strange Darlings guy.

I liked Strange Darling, and I like Glen Powell. I don't really need either of them to touch a Texas movie.

As far as I'm concerned, we haven't had a decent Texas Chainsaw film in 22 years, since 2003's remake!

I thought Leatherface was actually surprisingly decent. And the 2022 reboot has its bad moments but I found it to still be fun.

Leatherface had some solid sequences, performances, and imagery, though I have some major issues with how it's structured as a prequel. More importantly, though, you wouldn't have to do much at all to completely to divorce it from the Texas franchise.

I agree that 2003's reboot/requel (?) was probably the best/only good straight-up Texas movie we've gotten since the original Hooper films.

If anyone’s looking to watch Borderline at home, it’s available to rent on Prime for $6.99. I was pleasantly surprised & loved it, also found it to be a lot funnier than I originally anticipated.

I'm on board with just.. not doing anymore TCM.

Also - not sure it belongs here, but I can't wait for A24's Friendship. I have no idea if this is going to be a horror comedy, a straight comedy, played straight as a horror for comedic effect.. lol

HOLY CRAP!!! THIS WAS SO DAMN GOOD!!

I saw "The Mean One" twice because it was such a fun dumb cheesy horror adaptation of The Grinch, with quite a few other Dr Seuss references in it. It was a total B-Movie with a limited budget. While technically a twisted sequel, the heart of the beloved classic was present.

Screamboat clearly had a much bigger budget & an amazing script writer. This total B-Movie was done with so much love & care. It was never stupid or dumb. There are sooo many Disney references (character & dialogue) that will have you dying of laughter! And yes, the iconic Steamboat Willie steering wheel scene is in the movie too! It was not an over-the-top gory film, but it's very bloody! Oh yea, there IS a mid-credits scene, so if you're lucky enough to see this, stay during the animated credits.

"A scream is a wish your heart makes"

Overall, definitely worth the $20 ticket price. I just wish I would've known about the screening in Burbank sooner because they got a Q&A with the cast!!! So jealous.

Hmm.. could've sworn we had a M3gan thread.

Anyway. It looks ridiculous, but fun. Glad they found a clever way to incorporate the Megan actress' height difference since she grew.

I hope it's as dumb as the trailer makes it seem.
I hope it keeps up the dumb energy of the trailer.
it almost feels like a fake trailer for that Robert Rodriguez movie grindhouse.

i hope it has a lot of action. ( or at least long action scenes. ) I hope is funny.

Death of a Unicorn is a damn fun time at the movies. Paul Rudd, Jenna Ortega, Will Poulter and the entire cast are all very much on point in terms of bringing the laughs while Rudd and Ortega bring a good heart as a struggling to connect father-daughter tandem. After Rudd accidentally murders the titular mythical creature and the family discovers the miraculous healing powers of its blood, Rudd's employer oligarchic family becomes hellbent on profiting off the creature's carcass. Unbeknownst to everyone, the deceased magical creature was just a baby and its mother and father are none too keen with letting soulless corporate greed sell their offspring to the highest bidder and run horn first into a family slaughter.

The titular creature(s) being turned into a grizzly, death hungry beast works so well in its relentless pursuit of animal justice and just about each death is as funny as it is gory. While the heart string pulls feel slightly forced and the film isn't revolutionary, Death of a Unicorn feels like it'll certainly become one of those 'remember that? that's a really good flick!' films.
