After 3 tries, I finally finished Hell House LLC Lineage and the nicest thing I can say about it was that I liked the baby blue & brown plaid jacket the protagonist wore towards the end of the film.

I have something to confess, the 3rd one was terrible I couldn’t make it through lol

I really tried, and there were a handful of solid sequences (particularly the initial carnival scene), but it's a patently bizarre film consisting almost entirely of lore few can track with confidence or even remember.

I think 2 and 3 are pretty poor, though 2 has some undeniably tense moments (and I appreciate the extended Sleep No More homage in 3). Carmichael Manor felt like a return to form. And now... this, I guess.

The Angel and ghost fight, was weird I couldn’t describe it. Felt like I was watching a bad CGI movie which the asylum airs on syfy.

Their ambition outstripped their budget/resources. It happens, but ideally, someone high in the production leadership should've looked at the dailies and recommended an alternate course.

I didn't want to pile on, but yeah... LINEAGE is bad.

Huge bummer after the franchise reached a new high with THE CARMICHAEL MANOR. Taking the series into a standard narrative format was disastrous, as was leaning so heavily on lore/backstory.

I'm slowly making my way through part 2. The acting is frankly not good though I have to admit I quite enjoyed the clearly-written-by-straight people gay characters. That's some good old fashioned bad movie camp right there.

As someone who appreciates the Hellhouse series(but admits they got worse the longer they've gone on), adores Carmichael Manor, and actually goes to the Waldorf Estate of Fear in Lehighton, PA every year over Halloween....

i have yet to watch Lineage and now my soul hath been crushed by this thread. Expectations heavily lowered!

This comment compelled me to revisit 2, which I'd only seen once. Woof, I'd forgotten how much everything kind of takes a dive - acting, effects (practical and digital), pacing. Rough time, even with the handful of admittedly strong scares.

The fact that this franchise is forgettable, not saying it’s bad. It’s just there, And hard to follow. Like I didn’t remember 2 at all.

It feels like piling on because Stephen Cognetti deserves a lot of kudos for clearly loving this franchise but he needs a voice of reason like yesterday.

This is the second time in this franchise that a film has been billed as the final installment yet introduces a gaggle of new lore and questions that aren't answered.

He claimed on Twitter I guess that he hopes someone else will direct the next Hell House, so maybe that's for the best?

It's almost hilarious how much LINEAGE is not a conclusion in any way whatsoever.

It literally ends on a cliffhanger.

(And a baffling cliffhanger if, like me, you had no memory of who that surprise character at the end was supposed to be.)
