The general public is known to demand Universal by jumping on the trends that is or was popular yet most of them are a far cry from being really good like the Walking Dead and Stranger Things. While I’ve noticed a few people were pissed that they’re not doing it this year, but I’m honestly glad that FNAF is not one of my own wants compared to all the house concepts that I wrote for myself from my alt-universe of HHN. Not only I couldn’t get into the games for some reason, but also my worry about the IP itself is it would fell into the same fate as the other two I’ve mentioned before despite being lucrative.

this whole time I was defending Freddy's, yet it could end up being the worst house we ever had lol :nervous: I'm very aware of that possibility
it's very possible. be careful what I wish for :scream:

And they unintentionally dodged the bullet. If this won’t happen again next year, especially with Six Flags having the rights of Stranger Things at this time, then it should give Orlando the creative freedom to do more originals while having some alternatives to draw the crowds, but might be less worse in quality.

yeah maybe Orlando could always try to create their own original take on Freddy's. ( without getting in trouble) I just wanna see big huge plush robots, I wanna see big puppets. but they could be anything, dinosaurs or monkey plushie characters or sea creatures or lizard plushie characters or something. ( universal could do a haunted theme park where the mascots attack)

Yeah, I've always wanted to see a dark, grizzly take on the concept (that doesn't get infantilized, I mean).

On the topic at hand - I think FNAF would have potential to be a really cool house if they leaned into either actual animatronics or very large costumes/puppets.

The issue I would picture is that the location really isn't very large for a house - which I guess would make sense for it to be in F&F lol

We know Universal tried to get Five Nights this year. Why are we acting like its audience wouldn’t be acceptable (or desirable) when Universal has decided it is? I feel like that matter is settled.

For crying out loud, they made a house based on Fear Factor, a game show where the scariest aspect was bugs in a box. Let’s not pretend a series featuring dead kids trapped in robots isn’t on brand for the event.

So I’ve been think of international icons transferred to Orlando.

My take Lady Death, I’ve been clamoring for her forever to come to HHN not to mention her zone is beautiful. March of the dead could take place in Hollywood while the rest of the scarezones are tied to the event year of lady death.

I’m pretty sure we don’t agree on what “mature” means. In terms of thematic depth, emotional resonance, writing quality, character development, evocation of mood they’re pretty equivalent- and Scooby doesn’t have any pretenses of being “super serious for real.”

I know this post is like a month old, but I'm just reading through this conversation now.

I'm sorry but defending Scooby-Doo on the grounds of thematic depth, writing quality, and character development is just a patently ridiculous statement. As a fan of S-D, most of the Scooby media released across the past 40 years is really poorly written, has incredibly flat characters, and effectively zero thematic elements at all. It's an incredibly stale IP in all of those areas. That's fine actually! I believe the IP is still worthwhile despite that, and there are some very well-made exceptions to my statement, but using Scooby-Doo of all properties is a really flimsy glass house against FNAF.

It's okay to just say you don't like an IP and wouldn't be excited to see it at the event. Or that you wouldn't be a fan of the kinds of demographics the IP would bring in. No one has to justify that opinion with a bunch of poor arguments. It's already a valid statement.

FNAF is a long running, incredibly popular horror IP that fits really well into the jump-scare mold of HHN houses, has lots of merchandising potential, a Universal Studios-produced adaptation film that made a lot of money with a sequel on the way, that we know Universal tried and failed to acquire for the event as recently as this year. I believe it's hard to argue against the merits of the IP at this point.

I fear you misunderstand me. I’m not arguing for the maturity of Scooby-Doo but for the glaring immaturity of Five Nights. Scooby-Doo, which is mature in comparison to almost nothing else, wins this competition simply because it has no pretenses to being anything other then what it is.

As I stated, I would be perfectly happy with Five Nights at the event. I think it would make a fun house and would pad Uni’s pocketbooks nicely, just as you say. It would also be one of the lowest quality IPs to ever grace the event - a fact which, again, wouldn’t necessarily make it a bad choice. Loudly lamenting its absence, however, is silly.

Not necessarily a wish list for the event itself, but more a crossover. One that I can actually see happening when we inevitably get a DbD house/zone (especially with Blumhouse working on the moive):

DEAD BY DAYLIGHT X HALLOWEEN HORROR NIGHTS
KILLER:
The Duality (SINIST3R & SURR3AL)
MAP: The Lantern
SURVIVOR: Boris Shuster

LEGENDARY SKINS:
The Trapper:
Body Collector
The Hillbilly: Samuel Meetz + Eddie Schmidt
The Hag: Nightingale
The Doctor: Paulo Ravinski
The Legion: Triplets of Terror
The Clown: Jack Schmidt
The Artist: Lady Luck + Nathaniel Crowe
The Trickster: Chance

I hear you there. FNAF is clearly not without glaring flaws as a franchise. A good bit of that is just due to the IP's origins as an incredibly low budget indie horror game, spun into a franchise largely by a rabid younger fanbase making more out of the series than was really there, and a creator who didn't know what they were making as they were making it. That's all true, and I totally get why it gets brought up.

I believe there is a trend here of dismissing the series outright in the same way IP like Demon Slayer, Rick & Morty, certain music artists have been in the past; and to me, I just think that's all kinda silly as well. Fear Factor, Penn & Teller, Bill & Ted; there are lots of examples of out-there, immature, non-horror, or incredibly new IP we've seen at the event before. I think that's the sentiment that I get a little bored of seeing every year. I think a number of these weird IP are substantially more possible than some people give them credit for.

Just on a personal note, I think that low-budget origin is actually another reason why I think it'd be really cool to see FNAF at HHN. It's one thing for an incredibly successful and celebrated AAA Horror game like Silent Hill 2 or The Last of Us to get a house, but it's very seldom that independent projects get as huge as FNAF has, and I think it's a great underdog story for it to reach the heights of a really successful Blumhouse film and a high-budget official Haunt attraction at a world-renowned theme park. It feels almost like when Undertale made it into Super Smash Bros. Indie projects rarely get the same love as larger scale IP, and it's always really cool to see the few exceptions when they happen. Theme park attractions based off of video games are so few and far between, and are usually reserved for the absolute kings of the industry like Super Mario. An indie project getting the same treatment would be very cool to see imo.

That's not the only reason why I personally want it, of course. I think there are elements of legitimate quality to a number of the games in terms of atmosphere, character and sound design, etc., but it's a factor for me. I can also totally see the other side of it and how that wouldn't be too exciting for some.

Late Night with Chucky needs to come to Orlando. Can be easily setup at Horror Makeup, running shows consistently every 45 minutes. It's a popular IP, so it should draw folks in and is a rather easy setup.

If Universal wants to have Chucky merch at the event each year, might as well give him a proper offering.

I'm tired of Chucky at HHN. Universal can do better than just throwing Chucky into HMUS. I'd rather have it be Blumhouse-related, which isn't ideal, but shows just how done I am with Chucky at the event lol.

I'm with you on that, Chucky is tired... but they keep forcing him at the event. Might as well give him a proper experience that can justify his presence in merch at the event.

With the notion that we may never see a proper full Hellraiser house at the event, I would 100% be interested in an original house treatment starring Sinist3r (and maybe Surr3al too) at a future HHN. She seems tailor-made for a classic HHN "We can't do this IP, but we'll basically make something just like it" house.

Also, I have been craving an original house that puts us on the set of a twisted TV game show. I've been feeling this ever since VHS 99 was released with FlyLo's "Ozzy's Dungeon" segment. Fright Fest kind of touched on this idea in a house last year, but I think so much more can be done.

That's what the RUN houses were, and I'm begging for us to get another. 25's was very chaotic and fun, and now that we've seen what they can do with the F&F tent, I think it would be perfect for RUN 4 (even moreso since Earthquake/Disaster was the location for all the RUN houses).

I'm going to push back a bit on this just because you've cited examples that are closer to exceptions (and from a bygone era). I'd also point out that Fear Factor, P&T, and Alice Cooper (save for the first house in Hollywood) were all much-maligned houses.

Fair, but I don't think there'd be a full year of anime/Adult Swim/indie video game properties or anything. FNaF, Rick and Morty, Scooby Doo, Demon Slayer would be exceptions. Strange exceptions have happened before and I'm not gonna bet against them happening again at some point.

I'd still say Bill and Ted is a pretty major fixture of the event for a lot of fans, and that's a really weird pick for a Halloween show, and it only doesn't feel like it because it was grandfathered in for most fans.

I've also been on here for a little while now, and I've seen similar pushback against Ghostbusters, Stranger Things, The Weeknd, Billie, all as being too young skewing, not horror enough, etc, and all of which have become repeat headliners for years besides Billie which never got a good chance. They are trying out a Jaws house concept this year in Orlando, I stand by thinking most "weird" IP are a lot more feasible than people believe.

There will always be naysayers, especially with Billie, but all those were big drawing names. If it’s gonna be weird, it better pack the punch.

Outside of FNAF - the introduction of Fan Fest Nights alters those chances for the others.

Hate to be a stickler - but they are trying a Blood & Chum concept, with the caveat that they don’t even believe it can be a full house. Even if by chance the house comes, it’s not Jaws - it’s Blood & Chum.
