Since Universal is doing a little something for the 50th, might as well have a thread for it.

Universal Orlando to celebrate Jaws 50th Anniversary with limited-time Amity area

Universal Orlando is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Jaws by bringing the village of Amity back to Universal Studios Florida for a limited time. Taking over the dock area of San Francisco, near Chez Alcatraz and the Jaws photo op, Universal has recreated a "Little Amity" section, full of sign

I know it's not going to happen but it would be pretty cool if this culminated with an announcement that Jaws is coming back and replacing supercharged... One can hope

Anyone know if there is anything left to come that hasn't shown up yet? I know to expect the sipper and the menus for the food booths, but I was curious if anything else is planned?

Can we get the photo update posts shifted into this thread just to keep an easier reference?

*goes to give the IU article a quick read*

I'm hoping those Jaws Freestyle Cups will still be available when I get there at the end of September.

Is that blue JAWS bag actually a lunchbox??? :eyes: curious to see if the merch is the same for both Orlando & Hollywood

NITPICK: Okay I have to be THAT fanboy & point out the JAWS Ride photo-op backdrop. The shark doesn't "attack" on that side of the island! That's the load platform boarding dock side! They couldn't be bothered to give us the actual "kill shark"/high voltage barge image?? *grumbles in fanboy*

Other than that poorly photo-shopped backdrop, the area looks great. Love that the 4th of July banner returned. "Little Amity" needs to be official & remain.

Does anyone know when the area is fully opened? Would like to plan a trip for the first week of June.

It's technically open now. Food should start next week, though.

It's not fully open till the Jaws ride takes up the Lagoon. Plan your trips accordingly.

I love this poster, and wish they'd make prints of it to sell:

The coloration choice and fins almost feel like an homage to the stunning JAWS 2 teaser poster:

Even though I'd definitely buy a print of that artwork...

I have to nitpick about the loading dock in the background on the right. It should be the church + mini cemetery across from the lighthouse.

Apparently it has the same loop music from Amity playing as well  it makes me happy to know all these little details have been stored away and preserved - I was never able to bring myself to look at the demolition photos back in the day, but it’s so good to have just a little bit of the attraction back in the park - would love it to be permanent.

I like this more than another Tribute Store. We still get retail, food, bev, and more but in a unique location.

No Jaws 3D— or is that down the road at SeaWorld?

A movie, Jaws 3D, that is on the same level as Sea World is a theme park. They're made for each other.... :lmao:

As somebody who enjoys JAWS 3 as the schlock that it is, give me some JAWS sequels* references, sure!

I remember one of the merch carts at the exit of the ride used to sell items from the sequels (I bought both of John Williams' JAWS and JAWS 2 soundtrack albums on CD from that cart, in fact).

* Except THE REVENGE. We can pretend that one doesn't exist.
