If Knotts gets a Batman house but not six flags....lol

Let's be honest here, do we really want to see Six Flags attempt it? I'd be much happier knowing that Scary Farm would be able to pull off something much better than Six Flags could with this property.

I mean yes

I would also be down for both to have one

fright Fest has some good houses not all houses but Saw is a really solid house, Trick or Treat had some good moments along with Conjuring

So when they try/have a budget they can do it well

Anyway for now I would take a Joker scare zone...we have DC areas

But I'm also down for it coming here, gives me an excuse to come back to scary farm

Yeah let's be honest, Knotts is going to do the Arkham Asylum house (if that's what it is) way better than Fright Fest ever could. It's going to be a banger

Not to derail this thread further, but let's not act like Six Flags can't do quality mazes for Fright Fest. Because they can & have. Let's also not forget that last year was corporate higher-up pushing the IPs (and earlier start date). The park isn't at fault & has had successful/great years (and mazes) in the past.

Let's not give Knotts so much credit about doing something "better" when they've declined in quality & effort over the years here/there.

Both events are still great & can/will deliver. Realistically, Knott's isn't getting a DC themed maze before Magic Mountain.

Maybe it's just me but I personally...don't get, the Arkham vibes. Makes me think of a western prison camp that'd fit right in with Calico more than anything.

I'm genuinely curious; what do you think about Knott's Scary Farm is declining? They've had some serious misfires, sure, but I wouldn't say the failure rate is somehow better or worse than HHN (and not even touching Six Flags, which had serious issues up until two years ago). If you take them at their face value where they replace two mazes every year and the scarezones are more or less unchanging features, I can't find too much reason to hate on them.

I imagine a big issue is media handling and their policies and practices as a result. Knotts has somewhat if I recall correctly, gained a bad rap as a result of poor handling of measures in media (but I can be wrong).

Thats my biggest thing as some who goes to parks with bags....like looking at the policy its just BS

Like for real a foot clear bag......you literally have scanners are you telling me your scanners can't normally stop bad objects from finding there way in?

If CA didn't get hot I get it but not being able to bring my metal water bottle without having to carry it all night to me....is a joke but for now i'm only going if a DC house comes so in a way I'm fine if it doesn't because I hate giving money to companies that don't value its guests

Eh, I'm the least sad about those two houses getting retired. Mesmer was fine while it lasted. Conceptually, I liked Grimoire, and certain scenes work well, I can see why it wasn't a favorite. That space is just so hard to handle due to the mostly open air nature, and I loved Nevermore, so I feel like nothing in that location has hit that high point since.

(Infected: Special Ops fans come at me.)

Forevermore was great! I really miss that maze. I think I'd have to agree that it was my favorite maze that has been in that spot in recent history.

Claiming that they don't value their guests because of their policies for a separately ticketed event is...a stretch.

You'll be hard pressed to find someone who loves the bag policy (the irony of them selling Scary Farm branded Loungefly bags only to have them not be allowed in at the event is not lost on me). I wish it was updated to at least what most music festivals and sporting events are doing. Those places also don't allow aluminum water bottles in for obvious reasons.

I guess my point is that the policy has been this way for a while now. If that is the main thing holding you back, you're missing a great Halloween event.

HHN and Six Flags.....SIX FLAGS allows bags in

Now they don't let you bring in drinks which is also a joke but there are at least ways somewhat around this but the bag policy is a joke. You have tech and people to look through bags do it

You can talk about all these other events but we have 1 to 1's for this and funny enough you know who is the best for after hour's events Disney they have ZERO concerts with either something happening or you bringing in even snacks because they know they will make bank either way.

But I'm not missing much, I go to HHN which is at the same level except they change more then 2 houses a year but this is 1000005 anti customer and I do not want it to spread and make other events less fun because Knotts wants to make a few extra bucks selling you water when its hot out

I'm not sure Knott's Scary Farm is declining because of their (admittedly annoying and draconian) bag policy. That's been in place for several years.

They whiffed a few new mazes recently, with Bloodline 1842 and arguably Grimoire and Eight Fingers Nine disappointing on one level or another, but it's still an incredible bang for your buck.

And I think ultimately the problem is inconsistent staffing in the houses. Now, that’s a problem at all events in Southern California these days, but it’s especially acute IMO at Scary Farm.

Hey I’m with you on the bag policy at Scary Farm. It’s bizarrely strict and I hope it changes. I can’t speak for Fright Fest, as I’ve never been but I think that Universal’s security screening is pretty efficient and I wish it was like that at more theme parks. That doesn’t really make Knott’s “anti-customer” though. If they were, they wouldn’t be in business anymore.

I cannot stress enough how much Disneyland’s after hours events are not comparable to something like Knott’s Scary Farm.

One last thing on the water bottle issue. You can bring sealed plastic water bottles into the event. My group has done it several nights for the last few years. Water cups at any quick service counter are also free.

I do think there’s a qualitative difference in how Knott’s feels about its customers. The vibe, which I realize is not quantifiable, is that they assume their customers are up to no good and they certainly seem to operate from that premise. That kind of sucks for the vast majority of guests who just want to have a good time.

I don’t disagree with that assessment. I think the bizarre bag policy is a direct reflection of that. I think going as far to say it’s anti-customer is a stretch. It should absolutely be updated and addressed.

Both of these points are dead on.

Biggest issue last year was a clear lack of actors in many of the older mazes - off the top of my head, we went through many rooms missing performers in Waxworks, Bloodline, Cinema Slasher (still pretty new!), Mesmer, and Room 13.

The security team absolutely seems to operate from that premise, and they're the ones with the ability to ruin your day/night.

Telling your customers they can't bring water bottles that are allowed at Movie theaters, other theme parks is anti Consumer THEY are the outliers and they make paying customers expediences worst because they want to sell water that's it, its not about safety because you can do it in the day time and the same process happens at both.

Maybe its because most people don't drink enough water but when its over 90 degrees out, I want water with ice in. I want to be able to drink it in line or whoever I am am at and not have to go wait in line for a water with ice somewhere or go drink out of a public fountain if I can help it.

Also the company had to merge to stay good, so yeah they would be out of business for bad policy's and not having attractions drawing in enough people to be able but because we have a system that rather not let the rich fail here we are.

IF you think its bad of policy then I'm not getting why you are arguing about it.

Also the only real reason Knotts is different is because they make people exit the park but this is a choice like sea worlds as well. Disney and Universal are smarter and just put wrist bands on and guess what the events work without a hitch and also have more people attending them so yeah

you don’t have to react like this every time someone disagrees with you. I agree with you that this policy is anti-customer in that it makes the customers experience worse. but you’re putting words in peoples mouths here without actually engaging with where y’all disagree (which i’d argue is pretty narrowly!)

You’d have to ask them why they allow refillable aluminum bottles during the day and not at night. I can tell you it’s probably not primarily to sell water, though as I previously mentioned how you can bring water in and also that it’s free at many locations park wide.

This will be my last response about it because it’s not really worth going back and forth anymore. We actually agree more than we disagree, and my initial response was that you’re likely missing out on a great seasonal event because of years old policy (which I also think should be changed).
