I mean, we can just come out and say it, right? Security/park management is assuming that guests are trying to sneak in alcohol in their water bottles. This could be easily avoided by simply requiring the bottles to be emptied during the security screening, but apparently that's too much to ask. Perhaps they also fear that unruly guests may attempt to use aluminum bottles as a blunt force weapon, which, sure, I guess, but if someone's motivated to start a fight at a seasonal haunt event, they will find a way to cause havoc regardless of what arbitrary items you prohibit.

There's a lot of good points here, and I agree with many of them, but I think the point about Knott's not really trusting their audience is spot on, and it's really an issue of their own making (and discussing it is a little difficult to do in a sensitive manner).

Knott's ultimately is a cheap date, and they don't have the ability to price discriminate like Disney or Universal, and that leads to certain things happening at Knott's with much more frequency than their competitors (or at least in my experience). I know they always crack jokes during The Hanging about Disneyland acting like they are so much more sophisticated than Knott's Berry Farm, but there's a lot of truth to that. Knott's is far more of a drinking event than even HHN, and I always chuckle a bit when the people in Orlando complain about alcohol consumption. They really haven't seen Buena Park level drunks.

In fact, last year I was waiting in the holding pen and saw two loaded middle aged guys harassing some teenage girls who were VERY uncomfortable to the point where I stepped in, and that's just one of many incidents I've witnessed, including blatant scareactor abuse. The low pricing means the clientele there does skew less sophisticated, and that just leads to more issues. As much as I hate to say it, Knott's could probably benefit from raising prices, but they just don't have the ability to do it.

What interests me is why they went to the time and expense to build out that entire left side. There's an opening behind the dumpsters and clearly space back there, but there's no door on that side of the warehouse if memory serves, unless they are extending a corridor around the side. There's also seemingly not enough room for anything substantial, except maybe a break room or makeup area, and if they are moving either function there, it must have gotten pushed from somewhere else. Plus, that facade seems pretty permanent, so they must be keeping it there year round. It really eats a lot of that queue in the plaza as well.

It just seems like a really large expense unless they are really planning on utilitizing that space. I also could be completely wrong just because I don't have a good sense of scale from the pictures. I suppose that could be the actual entrance since there's a ramp there, but that would be a swerve for sure.

To me, the right side looks to be only a little larger than Paranormal Inc’s facade and entry was. That holding area before you entered was part of the pre-show for a while, which could be the case here as well. It appears to be a little smaller than Bloodline’s “facade” box was.

Based on the earlier photos when the ramp was visible, some were speculating that it could be the exit of the maze although from this angle it looks kind of tight. That would also dump you right into where the queue area has been historically so, I guess we’ll see!

Looks like the haunt season pass add-on for Knott's season pass holders is back. Maybe regular will follow soon (I can dream lol).

Is there a reason they don't want more people to have a Scary Farm Fright pass?

They normally drop the stand alone pass the same time tickets go on sale. The Season Pass add-on availability is never really consistent for whatever reason. It is on the site now, but you can't actually get it.
