I know there's nothing Halloween for Calico Mine Train--while I haven't seen for myself, I'm 95% certain I heard a reliable social media source note it had nothing this year.

Admittedly, I'm not sure about Log Ride... there may be the Halloween Hootenanny, but I'm speaking about the fact the ride won't have live scareactors.

So far we are experiencing the mazes severely understaffed compared to last year. It’s definitely much different. Eight Fingers Nine was a much stronger run than last year though but that’s really been the only stand out so far.

Can anyone speak to why like some mazes get backed up when they’re a 5 minute wait? Like we’ve done room 13 3 years in a row now and every time it’s a dull and slow conga line walk through where we stop in almost every scene for a bit. Chilling chambers was also a slow walk through as well and we hit it like right at 7pm so I don’t think it would’ve been a cast change? I don’t think that affects mazes here?

Also, we did the boofet and we were taken to Murphys instead of the normal restaurant which seems like they should be transparent that you may end up there? The last two years we had been in the main one and had been served drinks and had consistent table clearing. It was just very chaotic in there with the tables close together and every time we got food it was barely warm, some of it even bordering cold despite the crowds. When we got there around 5 there was one scareactor prowling around. It did improve as several scareactors showed up, but that just made it worse for walking around the narrow pathways.

Combination of factors. One is layout of the mazes, the length, flow, size of the space etc all affect how people walk through and where bottlenecks form, etc. Another is line pulsing, Room 13 in particular has had an issue where I believe its capacity is lower than most other mazes because of the space its taking up inside a permanent building that also operates as an attraction during the day, so no matter what the line backs up more than is proportional to the number of guests arriving, usually resulting in queue hosts being forced to push through as many people as possible to keep the wait down.
Another, and possibly the most common, is guests just stop or get lost sometimes. Any scareactor or blackout can tell you at least a handful of stories of guests going through an emergency exit by accident, and everyone behind them following them thinking it's the correct path, leading to a traffic jam when those people realize they all went the wrong way. Room 13 in particular also doesn't have a lot of structured scares and boo holes, which in turn tends to lead to the scareactors getting in the way of the path to some extent, which makes guests slow down or outright stop.

Apologies for double posting but got curious,
Has anyone seen any new props/headstones added for Chilling Chambers? I know they added them last year for The Depths and Dark Entities, but I hadn't seen anyone pointing out anything from Wax Works or Bloodlines yet.

Just remembered I didn't write a review of everything from opening night! I'll keep it short. Some spoilers abound.

The Zoo:
Some cool effects in this house and the bird flying overhead was a really great scareactor effect! It was kinda cool. I think I prefer it with the lights out, but even then, there were some lights on that I feel like there wasn't supposed to. Also I hope they change the flashlight policy to one per party because there were too many flashlights going off, ruining the house a bit.

Mary: Call me crazy, but I think I prefer this over the Zoo. I feel like this is Knott's trying to be more like HHN, but I feel like in a good way. I actually got a good runthrough in here and there were some good spots for the actors to hide. It was great to finally see an "upside down" room that HHN Orlando does finally designed here on the West Coast (And provided a great scare!) I'll go against the popular consensus here and say this was a well-designed house. I know several people disagreed with me here.

Saw the Hanging and it was....eh. Feel like it's just getting weaker. Hanging a Labubu? Can you get more milktoast than that??

All of the other houses were fine. I just didn't get a great runthrough of a lot of houses. I'll go back on the fourth and see if I can get a better runthrough, but for now, I'm kinda underwhelmed this year. I guess the effects of the merger are finally kicking in?

Just going to echo the others here and say that Boo-fet is a great option. That way you can get some food and also get into the park a little early. We'll see how things trend next week, but generally lines for the repeat mazes start to taper off after 11 PM. The two new mazes located in the backstage area of the park will most likely stay consistently busy, especially since The Zoo offers a different "lights out" experience after 11 PM.

Your other option would be to upgrade your ticket to Fright Lane, which will help with all the lines (it's unlimited as well) and it also works for the rides that are open.

Take a look online at some of the show offerings and see if any stick out to you. Otherwise, you can spend most of your time doing the mazes and exploring the scare zones, which is my favorite thing to do at Knott's.

Yes! Wax Works is pretty much right in front of you as you enter the graveyard. Bloodline is on the right side, with one of the weapons next to it.

Yes, they added the retired mazes from last year to the headstones for Chilling Chambers. Hopefully the photos below show up, but if not, click on the link.

I also second getting the Boo-Fet. An additional benefit is that GhostRider typically opens around 6 or 6:15 for Boo-Fet attendees and you can get two or three rides in before the mazes open at 6:30 pm if your seating time is early enough. Be aware that the park has recently installed paid ride lockers for this coaster as well as HangTime and Silver Bullet, and you won't be able to bring loose items onto the ride without paying for a locker.

If you can get into the park early enough (I recommend arriving at the front gate *at least* 90 minutes early) for standard tickets, there is a ceremony at the front of Ghost Town with one or two of the main Scary Farm characters and then the monsters run into the crowd. It's definitely worth experiencing once. They have a mini version of this when they open the gates near GhostRider to the area with the back four mazes at 6:30. If you don't need to do all four mazes before the crowd goes to the backstage area after 7 pm opening, you can probably do two or three mazes and still get back to the main holding area at the entrance to Ghost Town for the main ceremony at 7 pm.

I've gone to Boo-Fet three times in the past during 2024 and 2023 and found it was really disorganized this year on opening night at the restaurant inside the park, Mrs. Murphy's. The people I was standing next to had gone to Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant outside the park for the Boo-Fet that night and also found it really disorganized. I'm not sure if I'll try the Boo-Fet again this season, but I'm hoping that Six Flags/Cedar Fair is not overselling the Boo-Fet from cost cutting and trying to make more revenue.

Out of the several shows offered at Scary Farm, there is a live magician performing at the BirdCage Theatre (I believe the show is called Conjurings). They typically have a different magician each week, and some are better than others (last year a couple of them had performed at the famed Magic Castle club in Hollywood). You should arrive at least 15 minutes before showtime or the theater could be full if you arrive right before showtime.

On the balcony of the Walter Knott Theatre in the Gore-ing 20's scare zone and near the Room 13 maze, there is a show with a live jazz band and six dancers in zombie makeup three or four times per night. Sometime during the set one of the scare actors will lead the crowd in an easy dance down the street. It's pretty cool.

There is a slider show in Camp Snoopy (The Gauntlet scare zone) at 10:30 pm which is unadvertised on the Knott's app. I've only seen it once and they have some additional pageantry with some of the characters. In the Fiesta Village area (Forsaken Lake scare zone), there is a short seven minute show twice per night which is basically a funeral procession with the characters in this scare zone. The crowds will start forming early for both these shows, so if you want a good view, arrive at least 15 to 20 minutes early.

One last thing, the Knott's Berry Farm app is highly useful for show times and rough estimates of maze wait times. Look on the main menu under Featured Shows & Events for what is going on that night. Any shows at midnight or later (the event ends at either 1 or 2 am depending on the night) will show up on the next day's schedule.
