I'll be there either way because of the coaster, though I do sort of feel like Universal has been weirdly marketing the coaster and Mega Movie Summer separately (heck, it isn't even
mentioned on their Mega Movie Summer page). Otherwise wouldn't the coaster be opening with the event (heck, maybe it does)? Some of the stuff sounds fine, the F&F and Minions dance parties aren't my cup of tea but will probably be fun for their target audience. The coaster opening will elevate the F&F stuff (really the event as a whole) and I am
always welcoming of themed/limited-time food offerings (sometimes this is enough to get me into a park on its own!). I would say the only offering that feels sort of lame/lazy to me is the moving of the Odyssey ship we've been looking at for months a bit closer to the tram, playing some clips and then having the gall to advertise it like it's some sort of "attraction".
Then again, I'm probably just jaded as someone who is blessed enough to visit the park a lot. Maybe that sort of thing will tickle the fancy of those summer Guests on the Studio Tour but I'd wager the AMC theatre Trojan horse photo op will be the cooler of the two given the ability to actually take photos with it and the (sure to be) impressive size of the horse itself.
Wicked feels a tad repetitive but I'm
definitely not complaining about a second shot at a photo with Glinda. I missed out on her before and then my wife and I watched the movies and now I'm a big fan and totally need one with us and her!
A themed bite to eat, a quick
toss toss with Glinda and a spin on the new coaster sounds like a winning day in by book. Though the coaster is doing most of the lifting, obviously.
