Wow. Thrilled to see a theatrical release delayed by 2 years like this be so successful for Universal. Also glad to see the franchise gain some huge momentum as USF expands with more Minions (just as some of us were wondering why).

Only a 57% drop this weekend, which isn't too bad considering what's it going up against with Thor's release. I suspect that the Gentle Minions memes will give this decent legs throughout the summer while people try and figure out what all the hoopla is about.

I also think it's hilarious how this is the second movie this year that's been memed to death, the first of course being Morbius. The great irony there is that the memes for that film got it re-rereleased in theaters and it STILL managed to bomb.

Eh, the Morbius re-release bombed because Sony didn’t promote it was going wide again so no one knew it was happening. However, the memes were based on how bad the film was, so not likely to have attracted much business anyway.

I'm surprised we don't have a DM4 (or DM franchise) thread, so I'll just post these here...

This past Friday in WeHo, they opened up a BTS x DM4 pop-up. So I got up early Saturday morning & went to check it out being the BTS fanboy that I am




Apparently the new character in DM4 (Poppy Prescott), is a big fan of BTS. So Illumination & BTS did a collab together to promote the new film. The pop-op, which is mostly a single room recreation of Poppy's bedroom/lair(?). Then of course there's a merch room featuring shirts & tote bags. I haven't checked the Weverse app to see what other stuff is available, most likely the BTS Minion Funko Pops. Anyway, here's a few pics from inside







I didn't bother taking merch pics, nor did I buy any of it... I would've posted these Saturday after I went, but I was too lazy & I have the attention span of a raccoon in a room full of shiny objects.

**Sidenote: The BTS Minions are designed after their "Permission to Dance" MV.
