Honestly, I know I have no idea of how Imagineers link attendance to construction approximation, but with the downtrend in locals visiting often, I’d take advantage and close off Tomorrowland in the coming years completely and start from scratch. Remove the Peoplemover, Rebuild Space Mountain, replace Autopia, upgrade Buzz; maybe keep Star Tours semi-open?

Think of the locals who love DL as like the fans of Linkin Park. The fans loved them, supported them, bought all of their albums, went to all of their events, but went mainstream with Minutes to Midnight. They cared more about chasing bigger money than the fans who supported them. Disney is the same way. They want that tourist money, not locals that will stand around and barely buy anything. They can go to Knott's.

**Unrelated but I still like Minutes to Midnight. I liked that album when i came out....19 years ago. Woof.

But I'm 100% onboard. I think they best course of action is scorched earth/80's Fantasyland approach. Full tear-down and rebuild but keep the Buzz building to give it an upgrade and make a little more room for the PM track. I think Autopia will stay during the rebuild since it's a little more "out-of-the-way" from core TL and it's getting the electric upgrade. I think they plan on keeping it around as a placeholder for right now.

here's a take: Star Tours should die.

With Falcon taking form to have the multiple path-lines; the need of Star Tours continues to diminish and downvalue itself. Replace it with a Fantastic Four attraction (or some other Key-based option alongside Tokyo Star Tours).

I partially agree. I've always preferred it over Falcon, but I think it would be best to tear it down and put a new simulator of some sort in there, but with more practical effects (Think Storm Rider formerly at DisneySea.) Like you said maybe theme it to Fantastic 4 and let it be Marvel's Star Tours....or maybe have a Stitch simulator. I think the GP would dig it. An AA Stitch piloting our space ship would be pretty cool with some Elvis music playing.

DIsney should be building the new land beyond Splash Mountain.....if a new land opened, that would be the time to strike and redo Tomorrowland

Give us a new Space, that can also get better overlays and bring back ghost galaxy

A Muppets Lab show, so we can finally have the muppets back in the park

Autopia is now smaller and they make it like two storys so the ride isn't too much shorter but uses less land. I'd give part of the land to Fantasyland so we can get the Frozen ride and a mini restaurant (looking out on some water next to the ride)

Bring the PM back and give them a look so at nighttime they are all lit up and keep the kentic enegry going all night
Make the PM something that has something to tribute Tron, antman/Adventure Thru Inner Space, Wall-E and have the ride build by the Fantasic 4 and also have it where an alien is one the loose (Stich) and he can be crawling through vents in the Q and have him pop up on outside parts of the ride in funny situations

Here is the real impossible thing, I want an New E ticket to thats not an IP....I don't care what it is but a new E ticket thats not an IP....everything else can be an IP besides this and Space

You mean building beyond Space Mountain? They could put more stuff behind it for sure, but that could be years from now, I think they best thing is to focus on tearing down and rebuilding the core TL.

Wait, you mean the parking lot behind Tiana's? That seems to be primed for Frozen. That would add capacity. I also think they should have a Cosmic Rewind-style coaster go in the Galaxy's Edge expansion pad. IF they're willing to remove that warehouse behind Falcon, there would be plenty of room. It would "holdeover" guests until Space Mountain is available again for a TL redo.

Like I said, I think Autopia would stay for now with the electric upgrade happening. Putting Frozen there would be the ideal location for it, except the lagoon might interfere with Matterhorn's structure. I watched Brickey's and Offhand Disney's videos on those which are good watches if you have the time. May not be as easy as you think. I think they will want to save that space for also a Matterhorn rebuild in the next decade as well as a FL expansion for when that time comes.

But yeah this post is already getting long. I'm kinda hyper-fixated on this topic so I have to get it out of my system. Would love for the ideal TL redo to include...

-People Mover (DUH)
-Rocket Jets or Shanghai's jetpacks ride going back up top
-Buzz Lightyear refresh
-New Storm Rider-style simulator going where Star Tours is
-Tokyo's Space Mountain
-Space 220 going where Innoventions is
-Autopia and Subs stay for now for a future FL expansion that would involve rebuilding a bigger and better Matterhorn for when that time comes.

But yeah, I think we're all in agreement this ain't going to happen until the end of the decade at this point. We're already more than halfway through it and they seem to have their hands tied with other projects.

Not sure the general public agrees with this. Smuggler's Run is an objectively less fun experience that also took seven years for them to update. There is an argument to be made about having a Star Wars themed attraction in Tomorrowland when Star Wars now has it's own land, but again, I don't think most people care. Star Tours has massive re-rideability. I'd wager if you polled guests, they'd prefer that version of the Star Wars simulator over Smuggler's Run.

I actually disagree with them closing Tomorrowland and tearing down Space Mountain first. If they really wanted to maintain capacity, they should raze Autopia first and build a high capacity dark ride or E-ticket and then proceed with demolition. Plus, that would let them lead the way with new themeing, so to speak. I'm in no way sad to see Tomorrowland rebuilt, but logistically with the parade and fireworks, Disney would have to be really careful about how they did it, and you would have to have something to relieve the pressure.

Unfortunately, given that they just announced they are replacing the Autopia cars with electric ones, the chance that we see any sort of change has evaporated.

They could cut Nemo and hald Autopia and we could have something but doubt they will do that

I know its not science but I see so many people on reddit and facebook also not a fan of Nemo....I know the water feature is nice but that is my number one ride over winnie the pooh that I'd cut with no sadness
(also Pooh is a fine ride but it needs to be updated....a joke they updated Pirates when Pooh came out feeling behind the times and never seen a real update)

Yeah, I explicitly removed Nemo from my comment, but I'm not sad to see it go, either. While I like Nemo for its uniqueness, I honestly don't find the experience to be pleasant and I never ride it. I think the uniqueness of the ride is pretty much the main reason to keep it, but there's just better things that could be there.

If they rebuilt Pooh to match Tokyo Disneyland, that would be a huge upgrade (but it's not going to happen).

My understanding is that the lagoon and Autopia portion of Tomorrowland are safe because doing major construction over there would mean modifying the monorail ... and that is just not something Disney is ready to spend the money to do. That leaves the other half of Tomorrowland as ripe for update ... except as was noted earlier, a huge amount of park infrastructure is built into those structures.

There's a reason we haven't seen a full revamp of Tomorrowland, and it's not because people in the company think it's good. It's going to take a lot of political capital on the part of D'Amaro to get something like that greenlit; I think that's possible, but it is by no means a front burner issue given how challenging the work would be.
