Nintendo Coming to Universal Parks

It was unofficially going to be located there (and was even the location used in the pitch).

But now, it seems with the Southern Expansion of Universal Orlando Resort (which should include 1 dry park at the start), plans have been changed for Super Nintendo World.

Otherwise, Osaka and Hollywood are still a-go for their locations to the best of my understanding, and Osaka is already well under construction.

Makes a ton of sense

Super Nintendo World - Universal South (includes Mario Kart, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin)

Hyrule - Islands of Adventure (replaces Lost Continent)

Pokemon - Universal Studios (replaces Kidzone)

Metroid - Universal Studios (partial replacement of MIB)

Splatoon - Universal Studios (partial replacement of MIB)

In all seriousness, what would happen if two Nintendo areas opened up in USF just as I described them? KidZone and MIB, two rundown, outdated areas, get replaced by state of the art Nintendo attractions. That also keeps guests coming back to the park after Universal South opens.

The concept of a Splatoon ride makes you wonder about the next step of a shooter type ride.

Physical sets with 100% dynamic projection mapping sounds game changing.

I don't really think that Splatoon gets a ride. The concept wouldn't really make sense, as you would just be shooting objects with paint until the entire room fills up.

If there's a point system then it makes as much sense as any other shooter out there.

I hope that most of Nintendo is constrained to a single land or lands and not spread out as single ride concepts throughout the 3 parks.

That leaves the question as to where to put Nintendo's smaller IP's. It's pretty established as to where the main three IP's should go.

It really depends on the lands and what they entail. Mario and Pokemon can easily hold their own as a land with a generic Nintendo land for everything else.

But then that raises the question, do Universal need to have the smaller IPs?

No, but should that stop Universal from using them? Also no. Keep in mind, they literally just made a talk-show into a ride.

I don't think anyone should be expecting significant additions for Nintendo franchises outside the big ticket ones

They can have merchandise and characters waking about from the smaller IPs but if they’re getting a ride, they would be as well just building a dedicated park.

I mean there are limited spots in the parks and no matter what rumor popped up Nintendo isn’t getting its own park. So with that, Metroid is a low level Nintendo IP. It is outranked by a lot of things that will get rides/areas from Nintendo. Then other better IPs.
