I have a pretty full backlog right now. The only new game I’m looking to buy until the end of the year is Epic Mickey Rebrushed.

From the trickling of Tealeaves; it seems this week will be a Nintendo Direct (presumably the final Nintendo Direct before the Console debut). Leaks are starting to trickle out as-well, as it seems MySims is getting a resurgence.

I’m expecting more trailers for Mario and Luigi, Echoes of Wisdom, and maybe an announcement for the date the Switch 2 will be revealed. Maybe we’ll get some final surprises, like Pikmin 4 DLC?

It’s late August now, and the Switch 2 is going into production most likely in the next 2 months, so they probably need to reveal it soon-ish before the factory leaks roll out.

I’m also super ready for another Animal Crossing. I can’t believe it’s been 4 years… getting closer to 5. I’m expecting it as a year one Switch 2 game, but I wish we could somehow get info on it early hahah (sorry for the double post mods)

I’m still hoping for Metroid Prime 2 & 3. Rumors say they won’t be fully remastered like Prime 1 was so maybe we can get a double pack like Pikmin 1+2. I’d accept that with the new control schemes that Prime 1 got added into these games.

I don’t recall them ever combining these like this so it just tells me one thing: we’re getting the Switch 2 reveal in September or it’ll be October like the original Switch. They’re clearly getting these out of the way to clear things up.

I imagine that has more to do plagiarizing Pokémon designs. There have been numerous Pokémon-style MMOs before and since.

It’s actually NOT about the designs. It’s about a patent Nintendo holds concerning catching monster in balls (yeah, I know).

I wasn't referring to the lawsuit. Many of the Palworld creatures are slightly re-designed Pokémon with variations in color or very minor tweaks to their design. Their copy of Mewtwo was too similar to the real thing, and they had to remove it from the game.

In addition, Pocketpair's previous game "Craftopia" was a much more egregious copy of Breath of The Wild, and their prior releases were equally derivative of other studios' works.

These games may be just ever-so slightly different enough that Pocketpair can scrape by without a lawsuit, but I feel that Nintendo/The Pokémon Company are somewhat justified in not being happy with the existence of these games. I don't necessarily agree with the lawsuit over the Pokeball patent, but I disagree with the notion that this is a case of a large corporation suing an aspiring indie developer out of pettiness or jealousy. There are many other great monster-catching RPGs out there like Temtem, Cassette Beasts, Dragon Quest Monsters, and Monster Hunter Stories, that were able to co-exist with Pokémon, and be successful without being derivative of existing work.

This is exactly what I would do if I was in charge of Nintendo. The OG Switch can survive for now off of remasters that could also be played on the Switch 2. I’d also put more of my own games on the system like a Samus Returns HD and/or Kid Icarus Uprising HD. Metroid Prime 4 should be the last big NEW title for the Switch from first party.

- Mario Kart 9 (2014 for MK8; Booster Pass DLC and Tour ended in 2023)
- 3D Mario (2017 for Odyssey; 2021 for Bowser's Fury)
- Animal Crossing (2020 for New Horizons)
- Luigi's Mansion (2019 for LM3, 2022 for Strikers made by same dev)
- Pokemon (Usually yearly release besides DLC, ScarVio was 2022)

On top of any new IP, remasters/ports, or off-the-wall picks like Tomadachi Life or Nintendogs they could throw at us. This could be a really wonderful year!

I'll wage in the first two years we get a
Pokemon, Mario Game, zelda collection or remaster, Mario Kart, Splatoon and hopefully a Mario Party and or other Mario Sports games

This years Pokémon is Legends Z-A and I know that Arceus came out the same year as ScarVio but I don’t think that’ll be repeating. This years huge releases will be the Switch 2 itself, Mario Kart 9, and the new 3D Mario. I’m betting on Animal Crossing, Luigi’s Mansion, and the next generation of Pokémon are 2026 releases.
