With that said, I wish they had an AMC lane to drive into, an AMC designated parking area, and an AMC security entrance which I imagine would be much more low profile. Whether parkgoers start to abuse that or not is a different story, but I imagine most people would follow the rules.

Yeah, just like I'm sure no would would try to get free WDW parking by using Disney Springs... oh, wait

Change is difficult for many people.

I took the shuttle yesterday. The only thing I noticed was the ramp up to the checkpoint is really long. There were a lot of stations but only a few open. It took seconds to go through. As long as Universal keeps enough lanes open at busy times I see no issues at all. Other than "It wasn't like this the last time I was here..." I can't imagine any real impact.

Movie goers might miss the first few minutes of their movie (and I'm an A-Lister) the first time, but they'll adjust the second time.

yeah I get why the movie audience is annoyed (I use A-List every week!) but I don’t think many of them realize that they are not the most important customers of CityWalk lol

I have seen 5 tweets complaining already, and it confirms, yeah probably will only go to this theater now once very 3 years for a nolan movie in imax. They lost a lot of business from us eating there before or after. I cant see the theaters doing well with this rule.

You also have TO PAY FOR PARKING. Why ever go to this movie theater again besides an imax film movie??? It free to park 90% of the other amcs and 100% of the other amcs dont make me walk 1/4th a mile the opposite direction of where I want to go and then wait in a security line.

*Edit, just saw a top film critic complain about it too, all the replies are people very upset lol

I’m also wondering if they’re going to have to staff security 24/7 at all those closed off security gates where you can just “push” open the gates.

I saw this tweet where they’re already not staffing the checkpoints enough later into the day. The park is closing later and passholders get free parking after 6pm now. Also, The Odyssey next month has showings 2am and 6am which will require staff.

Seems all the checkpoints will need staffing 24/7 as the employees now go through them too. An adjustment period for sure and we’ll see how things change.

“Top film critics” don’t spend a lot of money at Universal. The goal of the security overhaul was always to make it more seamless for people actually visiting the park — aka the people actually spending.

It is an absolute WARZONE on Twitter right now; a lot of AMC people are super mad about the security change. My family has always arrived to theatres 30 minutes early so the anger has me confused haha

I think the lack of formal announcement from Universal was a mistake; they should have done more to let people know to arrive early. Maybe including a little note with the ticket confirmation would suffice. Although with people not really wanting to hear anyone explain the reason for the change... I think a personal handwritten letter from Mr. Citywalk themself wouldn't do anything.

Just arrive to your movie early. It's not that hard.

Btw I have yet to confirm but I have heard the east hub (ET/Curious George) may only be open during park hours while Jurassic is 24/7. I asked security yesterday about this and they were 100% sure about Jurassic but we’re not sure is the East Hub would be open past park hours

Taking a look at this nifty map, I don't think that would be viable without just closing that parking lot entirely. I looked it up and there doesn't seem to be a walkway from E.T. to Jurassic. I doubt they would have that happen from my perspective

I saw sooo many people on Reddit complaining about this

Like....insane. From my AMC to LA subreddits everyone was hating on this, lol

Anyway I went on Saturday and it was like....3ish? So peak day and took no time, I think the entry for the most part if you park at Jurassic doesn't affect too much. I will say coming back will get a little bit to get used to

You can't just exit at any doors, so having to walk back to the area is a little annoying but hopefully won't be too bad most days but will say....I do prefer the old way mostly. I do like the set up for the Security it felt nice but an escalator being broken the first weekend for me is just....funny how the cirtywalk ones can't stay working for long for some reason

I think people will get over how this mostly works, but will say I think their will be people just complaining during events times. When your telling people during HHN and Fan fest they can't bring food into citywalk, if people are complaining now I assume they will again online. I do hope the AMC isn't too affected because its a great theater and think most people saying they won't come back are just saying it...the I-Max at USH is amazing and if their is a better I-Max near by let me know where.

I personally don’t mind the change, but they really should’ve done a better job letting the AMC moviegoers know about the change.

They just want to complain. It takes longer but it’s not really stressful or anything it’s just a longer walk lol.

This is such a silly way to dismiss criticism. Oh, this thing happened and then people complained about it? I bet they were just sitting around waiting for a reason!

Well, It’s because they are being silly and getting really angry over something that’s not that crazy once you experience it yourself.

Universal knew this would be a criticism. But like any other change, they will adjust.

Just as they did in Orlando
