I'm not convinced that was ever really on the table, because a person with any familiarity with Florida's weather and the operations of trackless systems would think about it for two seconds before immediately vetoing it as extremely impractical.

I’m not sure if this is a hot take but: the Cars trilogy is good but not great, the IP has absolutely no place at Magic Kingdom and even beyond that, that this barely even connected to the films to begin with. This is moreso Galaxy’s Edge style “official fanfiction” (because that worked so well last time) and replacing Rivers of America is perhaps in the top 5 biggest sins post-Iger Disney has ever committed both from a historical and visual/sightlines/beauty perspective. This is just such a terrible project on every level
