Posted this in another forum so thought I’d share my review from the advance screening on Saturday here.
I’m not a film critic. Usually my barometer is “did I enjoy myself? Have fun? Feel something? Was I transported from my regular life for a moment”.
With that said: I loved Hoppers.
This film is gorgeously animated, hilarious, devious, and sometimes downright creepy; filled to the brim with interesting characters, a world you yearn to be part of, and a heartfelt message. Honestly, Pixar at their best, firing on all cylinders. Truly a top tier effort from Pixar, and a new classic.
There is the most shocking moment midway through the film, the kind of moment that propels the story in an unexpected way, which made the entire audience howl, scream, laugh, and chatter together “did that just happen”.
With a tear in my eye at the end, I can say that I loved it, and wanted to start that journey all over again.
