How did I miss this thread? Anyhow...
Let me start by saying that while Poseidon and basically all of LC are just an area to walk by on the way to the WWoHP, I do think that Mythos and Poseidon are incredible works of art, and PF does have a few good qualities like the facade, the water vortex, and the illusion when it all goes dark and you enter the temple. If the story was better, and the video and some of the effects improved, it would be nice attraction. It has good bones, in my opinion. It would be nice if PF got an upgrade and we kept it and Mythos, because Mythos by itself would look weird and awkward. And I would think Mythos is staying as is.
That aside, why would the train station be where Poseidon is? Why not just put it where Sinbad is? Poseidon is WAY far from the Hogwarts Express and the entrance to the WWoHP. A train station can't cover all of LC, and I don't know what they'd put between this train station and the rest of Hogsmead. Woods? That'd be a HUGE waste of land...
I'd be glad to have more Potter wherever they want to put it, IF it makes sense. Now, if they turn Amity into Diagon Alley, we're out of iconic locations that haven't been used and which would actually have enough and be enough for a whole theme park area. The most important locations in the stories are in Hogwarts and its surroundings. Unfortunately, FJ has killed any chances of using a lot of the iconic areas from JKR's world because they've already used them in this ride. They could've had a whole Forbidden Forest area and ride, or Quidditch, or the Chamber of Secrets, etc. but not now because it's already used in FJ, so it wouldn't work eslewhere. Especially geographically, it wouldn't make sense to make a separate attraction using any of these locations if they're not next to or within Hogwarts. That leaves what other iconic locations not used on FJ?
- Diagon Alley (supposedly going into Jaws)
- Ministry of Magic (if it happens, it should be worked into London, near but separate to Diagon Alley, so it would be on the Studios side)
- Privet Drive (capacity nightmare. It's a location separate from everything, so it's small and isolated and just... not happening on its own)
- The Burrow (Weasley's home would be cool, but another capacity nightmare and again has to be a stand-alone attraction because it's in the middle of nowhere)
- Godric's Hollow (Sure it's somewhat iconic, but not thaaat relevant, other than a bunch of famous wizards lived there, so not very interesting for a theme park. Just like the Shrieking Shack, G.H. is famous or infamous for it's history, but neither is very interesting for a theme park attraction based solely on it.)
- Grimmauld Place (Sirius Black's house would also be a cool place to visit, but I encounter the same issues as with Privet Drive and the Burrow)
... And I'm out of places. There are some other locations, say like the cave they visit in the sixth installment to look for the locket horcrux, but again, locations like those which had a single purpose and are only interesting because of that single purpose and their visual appeal, wouldn't make for a great attraction on their own. Unless we have an attraction where we visit different locations in another "Journey?" But it just sounds far fetched to me...
So, I do want more Potter, but I don't see what the heck could go into the left over Lost Continent area if it were to be transformed to HP. In my opinion, all the doable ideas like Diagon Alley, maybe the Ministry, etc would fit into London (in the Studios). Maybe there can be a dark ride attraction where we visit some of the iconic locations, like some sort of night bus tour, or through apparition, or flying on brooms... IDK... If they're building London in Amity, I just can't come up with a logical Harry Potter use for LC's land.
