To me the Ghostbusters IP is done justice through an immersive dark ride rather than a roller coaster.

But if the coaster is Ghostbusters, I'm sure our old friend JackAttack55 would be happy lol.

From my understanding, Universal’s attempt at a shooter/coaster was centered around Ghostbusters, so there’s an appetite from the company to “thrill up” the IP. The proximity to the firehouse and the library in New York, to me, just means Ghostbusters make the most sense for that location.

Now, if the station was in Hollywood and the track went over the entrance plaza? THAT I could see as F&F. But I just don’t—in my gut—see F&F in New York when GBs just… fits better.

I think at this point, the Ghostbusters coaster "rumor" is mostly just classic USF fans trying really, really hard to speak that ride into existence.

As a classic USF fan, I am trying to speak this idea out of existence!

My mind tells me it’s Fast and Furious, but my heart is hoping it is Ghostbusters. I feel like ever since HHN, Cinesational and Mega Movie Parade, they’re trying hard to push Ghostbusters back to the Univeral spotlight.

I’d be really down for that, and plus since Hollywood is getting F&F coaster, it helps differentiate from Orlando’s since they got their own ride (albeit not so… great.)

I just think Ghostbusters deserves a highly-themed indoor attraction (be it a show or a ride), while F&F getting this coaster would render Supercharged fully redundant and, therefore, hopefully more likely to be swiftly excised from the park in favor of something better.

Fair or not, if this is themed to Fast & Furious, the ride will have one heck of a mental handicap to overcome bc of the current F&F abomination.

I feel as if the current ride has left a difficult to treat stain on the entire park. It is always an automatic skip for me unless I want to con newbies into thinking it's the best ride in Florida - then I will ride it for the sake of the joke.

Agree to an extent but there's a lot of hype already over the F&F Hollywood Drift coaster coming to Hollywood and Hollywood also had the F&F abomination in the form of the studio tour as well. People still seem to be quick to overlook that and are really excited about that coaster coming.

If F&F: Hollywood Drift ends up being as good as it's shaping up to be, I think the general park goers in Fl will also be forgiving and happy with what I am assuming will be New York Drift coming to the NY area in Fl. They'll focus on the thrilling elements of the coaster and be willing to overlook any poor perception that Supercharged gave the IP.

Absolutely. Supercharged will be immediately forgotten. Like... *immediately*

Agree. The only people who won't forget about it are the more die-hard Universal fans who hate Supercharged (that includes me.) but the general public, the average park goer? They'll see shiny new coaster, they won't care about which IP or the poor history of a former attraction.

If this ends up being GB, I could see them leaning a more "family coaster" route rather than an intense one. Even with Hollywood Drift though, the renderings for that seem to be more family oriented!

Fully agree with this!

As much as I would personally prefer to see Ghostbusters as the next attraction and initially thought it would be good to replace Rip Ride, I realize that's mostly just because a) I just prefer Ghostbusters as an IP and want to see it in the parks again and b) because the fire station facade is RIGHT THERE!!...but if I'm being honest, Ghostbusters just isn't the best suited IP choice for a coaster type ride as much as F&F is, and Ghostbusters truly deserves a dark ride experience instead.

Fast and Furious (as much as I personally don't like the franchise) deserves and has always deserved a coaster. Fast cars = fast coaster. It just makes sense. And with Hollywood building Hollywood Drift in their park, it makes sense for the sake of "synergy" and "cohesion" to just bring that same coaster to the New York space and label it "New York Drift."

Also, to reiterate above's point, putting F&F where Rip Ride currently was is really a two for one deal. You get F&F the coaster experience it deserves and was always better suited for and you (finally) get rid of Supercharged.

If it were up to me this is what I would do - Rip Ride is replaced by F&F: New York Drift. Supercharged closes and becomes Back to the Future or our version of an indoor Tram Tour where you ride through several classic movies (kind of a mix of Hollywood's Tram Tour and The Great Movie Ride). MIB (don't hate me...I also love the IP and the ride!) closes and gets re-themed and becomes Ghostbusters where instead of shooting aliens, you're now capturing ghosts with your proton packs. Everybody wins.

It would be great if the new Fast and Furious coaster was announced on “Ghostbusters Day”.
