Can Disney build queues anymore?

Even a 90+-minute wait should not require the standby line to spill out all the way into Morocco.

This is one thought I constantly have at Disney. A ride having an hour wait should not require you to stand outside for half of the queue time.

Ugh…I’m sorry. I truly believe there isn’t one ride where the 3D was removed and it didn’t degrade the experience.

Kong - way worse

Supercharged - already bad, but even worse after removal from the Orlando version compared to USH

Minion Mayhem - meh, a little bit of immersion lost but easily the best example to point to

Maybe I’m not thinking of one, so let me know if you all have an example of an improvement based on the removal. But overall, if the ride film was built to be in 3D, the pop out elements really lack punch and remind you you’re watching a screen in my opinion.

I haven’t been on the Ratatouille in Paris since they removed the effect, but having been on the ride at EPCOT many times, I feel like the 3D really sells the giant screens and environment around you.

Begging they don’t remove it from Star Tours….

Don't really care about the 3D personally, and I'm glad to see that Disney had finally realized the benefit of fixing their new attractions.

On one hand I agree with you but on the other hand they never recalibrate the 3D effects so they always end up blurry 6 months after a refurb. The Forbidden Journey drop was a huge improvement other than making the physical sets maybe a bit too bright.

Won’t be able to go on this for a while so it will be difficult to judge how it will be. I will say that historically removing 3D from rides usually makes the experience worse. The only exception was FJ. Ride doesn’t need 3D.

Minion Mayhem really needed 3D. Kong needed it. Supercharged, who cares. I think this ride could use the 3D but again, I would have to ride it myself to see.

Overall I’m indifferent until I can experience myself, but I’m leaning slightly towards cheap budget cuts. I’m glad the industry to veering away from 3D, but I don’t think removing 3D from rides that are meant to be in 3D is the way to go.

I've done the 2D version in Paris. It is suboptimal because the ride and its animation were designed for 3D. There's only so much you can do to adjust the visuals to accommodate the abrupt lack of 3D effects where they clearly are meant to exist, especially given the vehicle's close proximity to many of the screens. In other words, this is an unfortunate downgrade.

I'd certainly feel that way if they weren't also adding new props to the rides. We'll have to see whether that makes a difference.

This is a case where the ride should have stayed 3D. Few rides have 3D that works convincingly (I don't think FoP's works well at all. Never have liked it there), but this one's 3D was still in pretty good shape as recently as this summer when I last rode it.

I would be very surprised if they do. I've also ridden it in 2D in Paris and it's a lesser experience. Bummer.

They did announce they're adding props and lighting, but I don't see how that's going to get around the fundamental problem of converting a 3D presentation into 2D one. I'd love to be wrong, though!

Sorry, I should have been more clear: I'd be very surprised if they make a difference. I don't think they're lying in the press release. Probably.
