9 times out of 10 when the topic of sustainable tourism comes up, Disney is used as an example or case study. They re-use a lot of resources as well as go through all the waste generated by guests and sort them by material so that it can be recycled. Most of their vehicles run on Compressed Natural Gas and some of the rides (at Disneyland at least) run on cooking oil that they use to make the fries. They also were extremely proactive in the shift to LED lighting. They do generate a decent carbon footprint but they are by no means trashy or irresponsible in terms of being "green".

Yeah, I know. I just got myself into a pissy mood about Disney leaving all the old junk behind. I still think it stinks and feel the need to berate them, despite all the "other stuff".

And rightly so, I read about this a few years back and for the life of me I couldn't fathom out why.

Regarding the burial of the subs: That's really intriguing; I don't know what their rationale for BURYING them would be. They aren't even biodegradable -- why not just have them above ground? Weird. There has to be a reason.

There is a reason that I heard back in 2005 most likely from Lee on magic, that they didn't want to sell them because they worried they might end up being used in less then seemly ways, such as in bars or porn films.

Bringing this thread back, just like River Country is coming back..(kidding)

So I have an idea that I want to run past you guys. What if Disney brought back River Country for resorts that sit on the lake? This would include Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Fort Wilderness Resort, Fort Wilderness Campground and Bay Lake Towers. Obviously the state of affairs at River Country right now are awful and they would have to completely re-do everything, but why not rebuild everything exactly how it was, except upgrade the technology such as the filtration system, the rides, and whatever else that needs to be upgraded. River Country would only be opened to resort guests on the lake and each room at each resort would cost an extra 30+ dollars during the seasonal months that River Country is open. It would basically be an all-inclusive water park to these guests. Resort guests would be transported to River Country by boat, no other form of transportation is necessary. Thoughts?
