Oh snap.

That long-rumored Samurai Summit refresh finally coming to fruition? I also take this as a sign that Ninja’s days are VERY numbered.

Or they just close the pathway and leave it abandoned. That said… turn that Superman: The Escape into a DC-themed brewery with hilltop views of the park and we’ve got something cooking.

yeah, they could close this after sunmer

Most likely the house isn’t returning in that area. So would not surprise if they close the area to save money after summer or early next year

Then 10 years later do a Phantom’s Spire kind of ride on the Superman man tower.

I still look back at this whoopsie post from a few years ago. And still believe this was not posted in error

I also wonder if this samurai summit overhaul gets announced along side the 2027 coaster.

Not gonna lie, as someone who spent a lot, lot, lot of time at the park growing up in the '90s (my first-ever coaster was Revolution), the day(s) Ninja and Gold Rusher go away will be a huge bummer, just like Log Jammer and Tidal Wave were. I have so much nostalgia for both rides, and even if they make way for stuff that's better, I'll still miss 'em because they were part of what defined "my" childhood era of the park, one of being excited for the Batman stunt show or feeding the goats at Critter Canyon or being terrified of Freefall or wondering why Flashback was always so damn loud.

Conversely, Viper could close and I'd actually breathe a sigh of relief.

Closing Gold Rusher would really, really stink. It's one of the most charming rides in the entire park and a rare coaster at Magic Mountain that is very accessible to a lot of guests. I get it, I'm sure it's well past its expiration date, but... bleh.

I mean I think both ninja and gold rusher going would be bad

There isn’t enough for families to do and we just took 3 kids kids rides for looney tunes land

Like I get it the park is mostly for teens and thrill seekers but having two less family coasters with no replacements for years also doesn’t feel like a good move

Completely agree with all of this.

Magic Mountain is going to be the big thrills park. The old guard tried to change that years ago and failed. Don’t know why they think adding a family coaster is gonna change that.

I really figured their MO would be to focus SFMM on being the thrill park and Knott’s being the family thrills park. You would think that would make sense with both parks being close-ish proximity to each other.

I mean, SFMM doesn’t need more thrill coasters, but it would be nice to have at least the mega coaster we’ve been wanting. You would think after F&F they would at least try to add one more big thrill coaster to stand out.

As sad as I would be to see it go, Goldrusher has got to be reaching the end of it's service life. It's literally 55 years old... if it were a person, it would qualify for AARP. Things don't last forever.

Similar for Ninja. While it's not as old, the nature of the ride makes it very difficult to maintain. There's not many Arrow suspended coasters left (5 left in the world according to RCDB), most parks got rid of theirs years ago. And while Viper is not part of this list yet (which has also been on the rumored chopping block for a long time), it's the same story. Shockwave from SFGA, Viper's close cousin, closed over 24 years ago.

Honestly, we should be amazed and impressed SFMM kept them running for as long as they have. Nearly all other parks gave up on rides of these type years ago. Go ride them now and appreciate them while you still can.

The problem isn’t so much that they’re going away … it’s that we all know those type of rides (family coasters that really use the terrain of the hillside) are never going to be built again at this park. It would be much less of a bummer if I trusted Six Flags to develop worthy successors.
