Springfield should be open by early to mid March, I'm hearing.

Exactly what I heard too when I went to Universal yesterday!  It sounds like the food court will open in March and the rest will probably open a little later in the Spring.

Also the first cooling tower for the nuclear plant it installed.

Can't wait for Springfield to be done!!!!! But the cooling tower for the nuclear reactor looks weird. I guess once more details are added it will look better. I do like how it is a practical set piece but it looks like a giant concrete block right now.

Awesome photos! Like Alex said above i'm glad the cooling cowers will be three-dimensional instead of just flat cutouts. Looks like Mr. burns Mansion should be coming soon too.

I'm most exciting for the Lard Lad to come up on Lard Lad Donuts.  Quite glad that it'll actually be on the building like in the show versus next to it like Orlando's.

I'm no Simpsons expert but isn't the Lard Lad statue always located next to the building in the show? It even shows it in the intro.

The Lard Lad statue is, indeed, located next to the building (not atop):

Our iteration won't be completely accurate to the show, but our Lard Lad building itself looks more accurate than Orlando's (for some reason they decided to make their building red). While the different placement will also help with forced perspective, there really wasn't anywhere else to put it given the location of Lard Lad Donuts in our rendition of Springfield and the fairly narrow pathway.

Looks fantastic! I'm so excited for it, definitely gonna renew my annual pass ASAP (which expires in a week or so.)

It still pains me to see such beautiful and intricate work and details on the Springfield buildings that make it come to life being right next to the Simpsons ride building which is quite honestly an eye sore. I still wish they'd properly cover up or theme the two omnimax domes. *sigh* oh well.

I'm not a Simpsons expert either by any means (where's forum user Krusty when you need her?), but it seems as though the statue was located on top of the building earlier on in the show. He's located aside the building when seen in The Simpsons Ride, so there'll be an inconcistency there (albeit a small one).

You all are practically right about Lard Lad being next to the building, my bad  But yeah, I guess in earlier episodes he was on top, so it does get confusing.  On top would make more sense anyway though, honestly more visually appealing.

That would be so cool. It probably will, but there is no smoke coming out of the cooling towers in the concept art
