I'm thinking of a high-tech Space Mountain concept that the whole family can do...would love to see something along the lines of Space Fantasy only more highly themed

While since it would be a rethemed clone, I don't see a reason for them to say no ;)

Same, it was awesome. Maybe it's because i'm not a trekkie and haven't seen wrath of kahn

I'm not a Trekkie. I'm not a fan of the franchise at all. The only 2 things I've ever enjoyed from the franchise are Wrath of Kahn and ST 2009.

Into Darkness was just a terrible film.

Ehh different spokes for different folks. But theme park attraction wise it couldn't lose especially with the design. Also I'm just gonna put this out there I like the cast for the remakes a BILLION times better than the original series. I'd love to see them reprise their roles for a ride

I thought Star Trek: Into Darkness kicked butt too. Very enjoyable popcorn flick! The first film was a fun origin movie, excellent casting, and a blast to watch Kirk "beat" the Kobayashi Maru. The whole "alternate universe" aspect bothered me a bit from the original series, but it opened the future films up to new stories...but I'm not a Trekkie/Trekker, either. I was scolded above about calling Star Trek fans "Trekkies," (as that's allegedly what Gene Roddenbury called them), however, just yesterday, I was scolded by a bunch of close friends of mine who are SERIOUS fans (they speak Klingon and haven't missed a convention in decades), and was told that they're not "Trekkies," they're TREKKERS!!!

Cracks me up...Star Trek fans can't even agree on what to call themselves!

I grew up a Next Generation guy. My dad said that anyone who was a fan of the Original was called a Trekkie, and fans of Next Gen, Deep Space 9, and Voyager were Trekkers. Idk how true that is, but that's what I've always believed.

I enjoyed Into Darkness. I wasn't expecting much, and didnt go into it thinking about the original films. In doing so, the movie was good. Something anyone(not just Trek fans) could enjoy.

Oh, and Wrath of Kahn and the '09 reboot were great, but First Contact will always be my favorite! Can't beat the Borg!

I thought both of JJ Abrams Star Trek flicks were well made and a lot of fun.

Highly recommend both. Love the Abrams "lens flare"!

The difference between Trekkie and Trekker are kind of like the differences between Nerd and Geek. Many people would self-identify as one or the other for personal reasons that everyone may not agree on. Like some would say a Nerd is smart and Dork is the derogatory term, while other may say the opposite. I guess if your a nerd who watches Trek your one, and if your a geek who watches Trek then your the other

It is true that Trekkie was around earlier and Trekker came around later, but the TOS vs the rest divide is not so common. Some people say that Trekkie sounds more passive so it covers the people who love watching the TV show, and Trekker sounds more active so those are the ones who "live" it so to say.

I do believe that Gene Roddenberry (the creator) endorsed the term Trekkie, but it seems to me he found it humorous that it even mattered to people. It's like those who say there is a rule against putting catchup on a hotdog, they just want to sound cool. That being said I am a Trekkie and that is 100% definitively the correct term

I have sympathy for whomever the UC Creative Director is that decides to boldly go and take on this project. I feel like ST is one of those properties where the fan base is so extreme… nothing that can be built would be good enough. They will always find fault, or think it should have been done a different way.

And that's my cynicism for the day :)

We've already got some of that with the Potter fanatics who complain about unthemed extended queues or a roller coaster taking them out of the "experience" in Hogsmeade or that muggles are being allowed into Hogwarts and can see Dementors.

Not from me...and I'm a lifelong Trek guy!
I have faith in Uni Creative. Even if its not as amazing and detailed as Diagon I won't care. I'll just be extatic that I for once can finally visit a Star Trek attraction!

I believe that was Disney and Universal fan complaints...not Potterheads

Regardless..In my opinion I think Star Trek should be part of a bigger project, Sci-Fi City...start at MIB and use the empty MIB/Simpsons plot for some Star Trek stuff, Battlestar Galactica and perhaps a Doctor Who attraction or walk through...I would love to see the area around MIB get an update and stop playing Ja Rule and Ashanti tunes as nostalgic as they make me feel haha..

But at least we got a back story to Kahn in "Into Darkness" than from the original. The next one is going back to the the roots of the originals so they are going to be probably good.

If you want Khan's backstory it's Season 1 Episode 22.

The best way to go is to have a Star Trek ride like the one in Japan. It would bring a popular IP attraction along with a new type of ride Universal Orlando could use! Plus I feel like just bringing one ride or a small area is a better decision than having a whole ST themed land. Also the Godzilla ride would definitely make sense for a Disaster replacement. The new movie takes place in San Francisco, so it makes sense!

Not sure why, but I see them using the expansion area for ST...put something like Gremlins in the current Kid Zone...maybe toss in Close Encounters...just have a lot of sci-FI type stuff keeping ET and MIB as anchors.
