Seeing a bit of backlash from folks that rely on wheelchairs , and have limited mobility. The fact that they made these changes to several rides, not just stardust , is likely going to upset a few people.

Every time WDW makes an effort to fix their disability pass system, which it appears they did during last years' modification, they get a huge
backlash from the various disability organizations. So, even though this isn't just the pass, but inclusion/exclusion, I'd expect an outcry from
those groups. The parks are in a tough position on this, damned if you do/damned if you don't. On Thursday I read a review on the Epic FB group.
The poster was in a wheelchair. She said she really liked the park, but she was very upset that on every attraction they asked her the litany of
questions on whether she could ...........And, this is after that unfortunate Stardust death after six rides. I guess some people just don't care enough
about their physical safety and take safety for granted. Just about everything in parks has the potential for injury, if guests don't heed the
safety recommendations and requirements.

People make choices to ride a ride-- not all rides are for all people.

I understand the idea that evrything should be accessable to all, but there are physical limitations for everything in life. The parks make "reasonable accomodations" but there are limits.

They basically made it that if you can’t walk you can’t ride. Which to me is a major change to the standards in any ride.

I'm one of the few here that was around when the Handicapped accessibility act was originally passed. At the time there was very little
special access for the handicapped, most importantly at government buildings. The act was really needed, especially for people in wheelchairs.
There were almost no special access ramps, or ways for them to get to the same venues as a walking person.
Over a period of time, most of it in the last three decades, court rulings expanded that original legislative intent and extended the meaning of
equal access beyond the original scope. And that put us where we are in time where that access to things that are sometimes in conflict with
safety creates ambiguous, uncomfortable, and dangerous situations.

Anyone have a list of what the new signage/changes are?

This is different from needing to move yourself into the seat?

Saw it screen grabbed somewhere else but if you can't physically walk to your seat unassisted on Dragon Racer's, Stardust, or Monster's you can't ride. There were a few other changes to some other rides as well but that was the biggest.

Yes, because now you need to walk, before you could slide into ur seat, that’s gone now.

I expect there will be a day where someone who uses a cane to steady themselves will try to get on the train without it so they can ride..fall...and then break a hip. I'm glad my wife got to ride this summer but now EPIC is one and done for us since there just isn't enough to do once you take away those two rop rides. I'm really having a hard time understanding the monsters unchained change as they have that special loading station and everything. I suppose this will also happen at IOA...

Crump put out a press release.

“Stardust Racers is evidence in an active death investigation. Reopening the ride before our experts can examine every component is unadulterated spoliation of evidence, a grave risk to public safety, and puts profit over people’s lives. Universal reportedly told employees the ride functioned as intended. If that is accurate, then the design itself is deadly. We are demanding that Universal pause the reopening, preserve all evidence, and allow our experts to inspect it. If they refuse, we will address Universal’s callous actions in court,” said Attorney Ben Crump.

Kevin’s parents, Carlos Rodriguez Ortiz and Ana Zavala, said: “By rushing to reopen this ride as if nothing happened, Universal is showing great disregard for Kevin’s life, our family’s pain, and the safety of every rider who steps onto that coaster. We are horrified that Universal would put the ride back into operation so quickly.”

The issue is that literally every individual is completely different and need different accomodations. Some people using wheelchairs are doing so to not aggravate a condition from walking all day, but can bound out of the chair in no time at all, while some have no walking ability whatsoever, and there is endless in-between.

I can understand being frustrated having to be asked the same questions over and over, and maybe there is a hypothetical system that could make it easier to discern at a glance for a TM, but even them I think that's just asking for miscommunication. I believe the simplest and best solution to this is not to add any incredibly technical and grand system. But to just ask the guest what they are comfortable with and would like when they arrive to the attraction; the current system.

The discourse that Universal=unsafe is nauseating and all over social media now. Even being peddled by large creators like Jenny Nicholson. This is very quickly turning into a Disney vs Universal thing in the public space and I don't think it'll ever fully go away.

Signage was updated, new restrictions added, and the coaster was deemed safe by all parties directly involved. What else do people on the other side realistically expect them to do?

Sounds like a fishing expedition, and he has nothing substantial. Just trying to muddy the waters..
* From Touring Plans:
Updated Universal policy...."Guests using mobility devices must be able to walk independently"....No assistance may be
provided by caregivers, relatives, team members, others
Attractions affected:
Dragon Racers Rally
Monsters Unchained
Stardust Racers
Hagrids Coaster
Forbidden Journey
Velocicoaster
....Both Kuka Arm rides on this list.

....with this reinforced, altered wording policy change, it sounds probable that someone helped the deceased get on the ride.

you made me wonder about something. I never thought about it until now, but, how do ride evacuations work when it's with a guest that uses a wheelchair and can't walk? sorry to ask but just made me wonder. some evacuations have a lot of stairs and stuff.

Depends on the attraction, but if stairs are involved they have stair chairs for the guest to use.

Looking for a big settlement.. the minute UOR pays up , you won’t hear one lick about the “safety of others” or “evidence tampering”.. this is all for show to drum up as much negative publicity as possible.

Health Services TMs are on standby at ride evacs and are notified if there is a guest needing mobility assistance. HS TMs are the ones who operate the stair chairs at attractions.
