I think that was a case of it being ready to port at the right time. They're down a headliner with the transition from Spider-Man to Pokemon, and they hadn't run Backdraft since the closures in 2020. Easy way to add more Minions in a park that loves them, plus a relatively high capacity attraction.

It's looking like I'll be going to Universal Japan in May, so I'll be able to provide an on-the-ground report on how guests appear to respond to it/general foot traffic.

tbh once you get to the hotel complete and with the park finally having its big coaster, I genuinely think a second stage show can really help make the difference. Gives HHN another show space, and allows WW to be eased off of pressure for a bit.

I wouldn’t even mind if it replaced The Simpsons Ride with something of equal capacity, assuming if they just gentrify Springfield to make it blend better with Fast & Furious.

Its the Dancing Car show, just 20 mins of cars dancing to Gasolina.

I would actually be down for Simpsons to be replaced by a Bourne-style show. I think that would be quite the upgrade. A second high-end show would be something the park could REALLY use. Not to mention it would come into clutch for HHN.

tbh my ideal hope is a Stage Show to replace Simpsons Ride, and a gentrified Hollywood for Springfield.

I think if you do that, it solves multiple problems in one go. With Springfield, I have to wonder when they resort to figuring the replacement, that they're going to have to build something that doesn't break the infrastructural throughfare logistics. I also think they would ideally want to have the dining reopen as quick as possible too, so whatever the replacement is decided would probably need to be something on the easy-way. Expanding the Hollywood area to go around here could help things flow.

Could be The Untrainable Dragon, could be Wicked or Curse of The Werewolf (the show version before that got scrapped into a coaster). Could even be Bourne as far as I'd want. But I do think a show feels like the right call for over here.

I'd mostly be ok with any show there....if like WW it can be rethemed for Fan Fest and HHN

Since USH is becoming an event part, if they make any new show I just hope they keep that in mind when making the show that it could also be used for something else because that would also help not just grow HHN but other events as well Along with if they event do a food and wine (early year event) or want to upgrade the summer event more

Along with even maybe use it for Grinchmas since we don't have room to really make the grinch area bigger

Parks that are built with an understanding that shows will alleviate their low capacities should have shows (cough DCA, cough USH, cough DHS till last year)

This is something the foreign parks seem to understand a lot better, Walt Disney Studios Paris has five shows running simultaneously in theaters of varying sizes. Five! Because they need it! Hong Kong Disneyland is building another theater as we speak! Don't even get me started on how many theaters they've got in Japan.

I mean USH used to

It had toooooo many shows back in the day

Not saying they were bad but I know that was something I heard from friend's going was its cool but I want to ride something and back in the day there were just not many rides

At one time we had Shrek 4D, Backdraft, the behind the scenes show, animal actors, Terminator 2 and something in the one theater like Spiderman Rocks/Fear Factor along with water world

Now we have...WW and Panda and if your lucky the 5 min Dance show where the characters come out (near the Super Nintendo cafe)

I mean, you’re not wrong. Back in the 90’s the park had a crap-ton of shows. They had the Flinstones musical, the Beetlejuice show, Animal Actors, Water World, the Wild West Show, the Special Effects Stages, the Blue Bros, the American Tale Show…live entertainment was basically the meat of the whole park. Back then they only had like three rides and the tour, but if you were a shows kinda guy, USH was a full day park easily.

Now the dynamic has shifted with having a good number of rides but only ONE show. For years we wanted the park to add more rides, but it came at a cost of getting rid of a lot of their shows. Obviously we still would like to see new rides, but I think it would be in USH’s best interest to add at least one more high-end show. There has to be some variety.

I agree

Another Live show would be a win. Like I said my only real ask is that its built so if they choose so they can do other shows there since USH is smaller and being allowed at least a way to bring another HHN show, Fan fest show etc would be a huge win in the future IF these events get even bigger.

Which honestly it sucks it will take this long but my prediction is 2030 is when USH next real evolution will take place. the 2020's are about setting up a resort with SNW, the new coaster which many here and online think will be so world class that it will bring in coaster lovers and lastly the hotel
Capping off the 2020's with a big show that can be used for other things as well would be a pretty perfect way to cap off the resort and set them up in the 2030's to hopefully go even bigger and get us a few new E tickets and a land or two

It's wild looking back now, since it's been a decade (good Lord), at when the rumors for a Pitch Perfect show were circulating, and people debating what a loss it would be to lose either Animal Actors or the SES stages for it. Now here we are with neither still around and no new show anyway.

I mean…a world-class top 10 coaster sound better than a lake Pitch Perfect show.

Sending out the @UniversalRBLX signal for some like-for-like comparisons on the capacity of SES and Animal Actors versus a world-class top 10 coaster.

Also would be curious to know if SES and Animal Actors fell under the definition of "underutilized capacity".

I'm having deja vu in regards to Springfield area/Simpsons Ride replacement needing to be a show theatre space & the area blending in with the rest of the art deco/spanish Upper Lot entrance area esthetic to give it the cohesive continuation from DreamWorks/Plaza to the Lower Lot/Studio Tour portals

The brick box of doom is still unfortunate, but that's very LA to have nice architecture then a random brick warehouse existing

I'll be surprised if the area can be overhauled in time for 2028 Olympics invasion

It would be funny if they closed half the upper lot again only a decade after they closed half the upper lot.

Obviously. I just meant that it’s funny that ten years ago, a Pitch Perfect show seemed like the bar for replacement opportunities simply because getting a coaster like we’re getting never felt possible back then.
