Look at it this way: Universal may actually be respecting their AP members through this. Maybe what they're trying to do is save their loyal AP members from being traumatized from a horse-vomit attraction and let the general public have to deal with the awfulness of it.

Seriously though, this whole situation is quite a mess. I thought Six Flags was the only park to mess up passholder previews.

Haha!!! Right?! Honestly, I'm sure this puts a sour taste in every pass holder's mouth. I'm sure we wouldn't mind being guinea pigs, since it IS a technical preview, and we would've been able to be "one of the first" to experience it. Adds to the excitement IMO. When Kong was in technical previews, my tram had to go through a few times for it to start properly. Added to the excitement.

Seriously, it's the way they're handling it that upsets me, and I don't care if today's technical rehearsal is "very limited", they could've done the same with AP members who PLANNED their time and reserved for this!

I'm gonna make it out to the park in a bit to test my luck.

Good luck... I think I might try to go tomorrow. I just can't get myself motivated enough to bother & I live near the park    Besides, I figure the crowds won't be as bad tomorrow as they probably are today anyway. We'll see..

Hopefully there is previews tomorrow evening, that's when I can go, or I might go Thursday night. If anyone is going today, can you tell me if the F&F soft opening is running till studio tour closing time. Thanks ;)

There is a sign telling people F&F is in technical rehearsal, but at the bottom it says parental advisory due to intense effects and mature themes. So now the full tour is parental advisory

Before entering the studio tour today I noticed this sign.  I find the parental advisory quite interesting.  Without any context, the movie rating system comes to mind, I haven't a clue what this means.  Just what do they expect parents to do with this tidbit of info?

Also, got as far as entering the final showroom of Supercharged only to have nothing happen.  The exit doors opened before the tram got to it's stopping place so we just drove right out.  Clearly the technical issues are ongoing.  To those of you infrequent visitors making special arrangements to preview this before it's officially open, be aware that you're taking a big gamble.  If it's really important to you to see this then I advise waiting until it's open.  I'm lucky to have seen it twice last weekend and even though I enjoyed it I definitely wouldn't travel far or take time off work just for a CHANCE to experience it.

The only reason there is a "parental advisory" warning is thanks to a bunch of people complaining & making a big deal over nothing. If people would've just restricted the complaints to it being a total crapfest of an attraction, it'd be a different story. Unfortunately, the complaints about the content being "inappropriate" is what this is a result of... This is just as bad as when people complain about things for HHN, which has restrictions/warnings... but of course, the world has to now cater to this PC crap of trying to please everyone resulting in the removal of whatever offended said person, no matter how ridiculous their complaint is.

Now if only complaining about there being more dining/retail than there are rides/attractions/shows in the park resulted in them adding more rides/attractions.

When F&F broke down JPLA, did they try going on it again or did you not get to ride it?

As we exited the guide asked the driver (audible over PA) if we were going to try again but the tram continued toward exit.  Since this was not an express preview tram I am doubtful it was an option to loop around and try again.

I imagine one of the reasons for discontinuing the passholder previews was that operating two different tram paths required considerably more staff than merely including Supercharged (when it works) on the usual studio tour.  When I previewed on Saturday and Sunday there was A LOT more staff managing the two different lines and load patterns.  Passholders entered through different gates near WaterWorld where their pass and ID was checked.  Special signage directed previewers to a separate line where their reservation printouts were checked and collected.  Then the team loading the regular trams had to work in concert with the team loading the preview trams to keep their respective crowds separate.  Plus, previewers were handed bottles of cold water which was greatly appreciated.

Why go through the extra effort and expense to have guests make special plans to visit something that isn't even working a significant portion of the time?  And when it does work a certain percentage don't like it anyway?  The previews were a substantial extra effort that, based on this forum, was generating bad word of mouth.  If I was Universal I would have ended it, too.

Thanks, I'm going tomorrow, so fingers crossed if it is in technical rehearsal tomorrow, but if it isn't I will go Thursday evening when it is officially open.

Its stuff like this that makes me think of my other choices when spending my money. (Disney)

Sigh... i'm really trying to love universal, and support them as a company but they make it DAMN hard sometimes...

I almost feel like they are trying to piss off pass holders, as if they don't want renewals, because all it takes is an email explaining and inviting us the to open rehearsals...like I can't even right now...

They really handled this in the worst possible way, I don't think they could have done worse.

Obviously every new ride/attraction is going to have kinks to work out... I mean hell, we jokingly called FJ in Orlando "Harry Potter's Journey of Multiple Breakdowns" because it was constantly not working. Granted it is a much more complex ride than this, but still.. Considering this is just KONG 2.0, I am baffled by the fact that it is having issues. This honestly should've been something that was taken care of BEFORE employee preview, AP previews & soft opening...

Its a little unnerving to think its having technical issues with the big grand media opening on Tuesday & then be "officially open" on Wednesday. Sure the different attractions along the studio tour have sensor triggering issues, we see it even with Earthquake.. but like I said, this isn't exactly an insanely complicated attraction. It shall be interesting to see how things go tomorrow.

^At this rate, I'll be interested in seeing how this will work on opening day. This is getting unnerving.

I visited today, and we went in through Supercharged and it didn't work at all, all the lights were on, and it was interesting seeing the four identical Musion sets. We went through the emergency exit, and circled around a few times in a loop, waiting for it to work, but each time we went through, it didn't work. It was nice that they tried their best to get it to work and have us loop around a few times, but it just wouldn't work. Props to our tour guide, who was fantastic the whole way through.

Biggest negative I DID get to experience? All the "preride" monitor footage setting up the experience, from the FBI transmission, to some of the characters talking. Holy frikin poop, that is some of the most atrocious, awkward and uncomfortable acting I have EVER has the displeasure of seeing. Like...my god....horrible horrible HORRIBLE acting!

End of the tour, they asked for our emails so that they can send us surveys about Supercharged. Boyyyyy am I gonna have fun with the survey! ;)

On a positive note, the park was super empty today, haven't seen it like this in a LONG time! Another negative though was that the motion simulator platform in Kong didn't work at all, which was awkward.

Went through Fast and Furious twice today with absolutely no problems.

I have no qualms about the nightclub scene, nor with any of the preshow footage. Is it better than Kong? Probably not, but it isn't atrocious either.

Correction: only the second platform froze. The first platform was flawless.

Going Sunday night to check it out. The tech rehearsals sound like they're super unreliable. I may go Friday mormorning to check it out beforehand as well.

Lucky that you didn't have any problems with Supercharged yesterday. Wish they offered an express tram for those that didn't get to go through yesterday.

And uhhhh..."correction", no, when my tram went through, none of the motion platforms were working in Kong...

I just realized something interesting. If it were up to me, the biggest thing I would change is rerender the 3603D chase footage as a nighttime chase. Not only does day time make it look fake, but the scene before it is a club scene. Who the hell goes go a club or dances at what looks like 3PM outside? It should all be nighttime, I don't think LA has white nights like St. Petersburg lol

This is some Grade A bullshit. They cancel the preview on us today for AP members, yet open it up to the public.

I shall say it again....Universal is absolutely repulsive when it comes to these kinds of situations. No f%$#s were given....

No consideration for people's time, and no respect for their fans. Seriously, talk about adding insult to injury.

yep I'm pretty pissed off as well. Been a pass holder for a while and the fact that they "POSTPONED" on us and are doing this is really frustrating. Especially when the "ride" is apparently complete utter poop anyway. Ugh. Don't screw up Harry Potter or JW etc like you f'd this up Universal.
